desi_4 Posted June 17, 2013 Report Posted June 17, 2013 I was hoping someone on this board can help me with bidding for a Muskoka resort. I have been trying for the last 5 days but haven't been successful.Based on the history posted on this board, a room at a resort like the Marriot goes for around $80-$140. I have tried all the different zones in the area with 4* or above and haven't been able to win anything, even with a bid of $170.Another issue is that I am only able to bid twice before I get this message "Thank You for Naming Your Own Price – Unfortunately, we can't accept your offer. During our search, however, we did find special priceline rates available for your travel dates at the hotels shown below." Is it just that there is no inventory right now? Should I just wait? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
AaronJB Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Rates appear higher than average for these dates - the Marriott's showing at over $300 reg rate. There may not be inventory for these date/s yet or it may take a higher bid, but there is also the possibility that the hotel simply isn't going to offer discounted rates for these dates. What would be your desired max bid for these dates?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

desi_4 Posted June 18, 2013 Author Report Posted June 18, 2013 I was hoping for $150 per night. I'm thinking I will just have to be patient to see if there is more inventory or if the prices come down.
AaronJB Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 You do have a bit of time, but I would not wait until the last minute. I'd pick a ceiling ($150, if that is an acceptable budget) and try every 3 days or so up to that point for 2-3 weeks, keeping an eye on retail rates and availability. If a few weeks go by and nothing, then you can consider other options.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
