Anonymoose Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Priceline currently lists a "Pricebreaker Deal" for a Chicago hotel for $126/night."Chicago, IL 4-Star Hotel - 49% savings!$126per nightIf you're looking for world-class shopping, nightlife and quintessential Chicago attractions, North Michigan Ave - River North Area is an ideal neighborhood choice. This lively area is home to The Magnificent Mile, a 13-block stretch lined with high-end shops, art galleries and bistros that runs from the banks of the Chicago River to Oak Street. Fun-seekers frequent River North's nightlife venues, restaurant and wine bars, while families explore the area's Museum of Contemporary Art, Navy Pier and Lake Michigan shoreline. How to Snag this Deal:Travel between June 20 - June 23, 2013Check the North Michigan Ave - River North Area ZoneSelect a 4 star ratingBid $126You save 49% off the retail priceBook Now"I'm attempting to purchase a 1-night hotel stay (check in June 22, check out June 23). I click "book now" and it fills in all the appropriate options--price is filled in at $126; 4 star rating; North Michigan Ave - River North Area are all selected. I enter my details for payment, etc, and it tells me I'm denied and gives the standard spiel about "select more options" etc etcIs this supposed to be a guaranteed rate? Or is it limited by inventory? If so--why do they keep it listed as an available deal with language saying "two days left"? Any insights into this are much appreciated.

thereuare Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 To answer your question regarding the PriceBreaker Deals, i think your experience shows that they are not guaranteed and anytime you are dealing with hotel inventory its on a 'availability basis'. The offer could be left on their site because only one day of the date range is no longer available, they only recently sold-out of inventory and it hasn't been updated yet (especially when this happens after business hours and/or on a weekend, etc, etc. If the offer is no longer available PRICELINE wants to put something 'live' in its place just as much as you don't want to click on a 'dead' offer... they make no money unless you purchase something so would rather present you with offers that can be booked. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
