Priceline Hotel: 4 1/2 Star Deluxe Plus Hotel in Waikiki

Aloha,

Great resource. Thanks a million. Long story short: Experienced Hotwire Express customer traveling to Waikiki September 5-14 (+/- a few days). Not satisfied with the 4-star offerings on Hotwire (apparently the Hilton Waikiki Beach for ~$150). I'm more of a Beachfront kind of guy...& they're about as far as you can be from the beach in that star class. ;) Thinking about trying Priceline "Name Your Own Price" for the first time.

What Hotels are considered 4 1/2 Deluxe Plus (Waikiki Beach Zone)? Is that a sub-set of the already listed 4-star Hotels, or is that the new name for Resorts? The only hotel that I knew of in Honolulu that classified itself as "4-1/2 Star" is the Modern Honolulu, but by all accounts, that would be outside the Waikiki zone.

Any clarification, tips, assistance or strategies (other than adding zones) would be greatly appreciated.

PRICELINE has done away with the 'resort' category and replaced it with a new 4.5* rating. However, this is not to say that all previous report class properties have become 4.5* rated, as most hotels in/around this star rating underwent a review and many were re-rated... some up, some down, some previous Resort class properties also went up, down, or were assigned to the new 4.5 star rating.

You can see the complete list of hotels that have been reported to the board in this Priceline Waikiki Hotel List, but to date we have not seen any 4.5* hotels reported to the board (it was only 2-3 months ago that PRICELINE did away with the resort classification).
