Hello,

Need your help in bidding for a 3.5* or 4* hotel in the Back Bay/Copley Sq area for 5 nights (7/19 to 7/24). I have tried for several days from $145 up to my max ($185) and have had no success. This is my max bid because getting a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on Hotwire is around the same total price.

I have also tried free rebids including the following zones (which have 3* as their top quality): Dorchester, Fenway, Longwood, Medford, North Cambridge and South Boston. Is there any risk of getting a downgrade from 3.5* to 3*?

Thank you in advance,

Jose.

Lastminutetravel.com Club has the Marriott Copley Place for $142/nite, although "on request", which means you can try to book it and they will see if the hotel will honor that price. Cancelable up to three days before checkin.

"Available" they have the Revere Hotel Boston Common, for $185/nite, also cancelable up to three days before checkin. Being cancelable means you can continue bidding on Priceline to hopefully get a better deal.

If you are not a Club member, just call their toll free number, and they will give you the Club price.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for the information, I had tried several times on PRICELINE and had not been lucky. I made a reservation on lastminutetravel.com and got the Marriot for $870, subject to a confirmation on the next 48 hrs. Is there a possibility of actually getting a confirmation or is the rate too low?

Thanks again.

It's really just a crap shoot. I have gotten a booking that was "on request" once or twice. Think positive thoughts, and come back and let the board know.

Good luck.

Please start by reading your messages and clicking each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links... then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at your post above.

'On Request' means that they have sold-out of their allotted inventory and need to contact the hotel to see if they can get additional rooms at their contracted price. If it's a busy time in the area and hotels are at high occupancy then the chances are low that the hotel will give them additional rooms at their discounted rate... if occupancy levels are 'normal' there is a better chance.

Let us know how you make out and if necessary we'll proceed from there.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

I just received the reply and unfortunately they did not have a room available at such price. Im going to try bidding on priceline again. Lets see how it goes.
