romrocha Posted June 24, 2013 Author Report Posted June 24, 2013 I didn't had success in this bid strategy. I tried several times, I don't know what to do now. Should I continue trying? until when? Thanks!
thereuare Posted June 24, 2013 Report Posted June 24, 2013 Nobody can say if/when rates will come down for these dates... or if they will continue even higher from here.Your options come down to:increase your budgetlower your star ratinginclude other zones that may be acceptableSPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BIDwait it out and hope for lower rates i the weeks aheadSummer is traditionally slow season in NYC, but you also have a longer stay which could make it a little more difficult since if a hotel doesn't offer deeply discounted rates for even just one nite of your date range, that hotel is out of the possibilities to accept your bid. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. romrocha Posted June 27, 2013 Author Report Posted June 27, 2013 I'm checking express deals and I found a 4* for $166, so I'm trying 130$bid, but without sucess. I'm going to keep this strategy for more 2 weeks. Do you guys have any recommendation of zones or even 2,5* hotels in those zones? I'm kind lost right now! =(
thereuare Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 I'm checking express deals and I found a 4* for $166, so I'm trying 130$bid, but without sucess.Using the 4* price to determine your 3.5* bid is not an apples-to-apples comparison, since sometimes a higher star rated hotel can be less expensive then a lower rated property. For example, the $166/nite hotel is for a 4* hotel in the MTE zone... yet on PRICELINE EXPRESS the 3.5* hotel in this zone is priced at $206/nite.I would give it time before lowering to 2.5*.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. romrocha Posted July 1, 2013 Author Report Posted July 1, 2013 So I'm still trying 3,5* and 3*. I'm going to do that for more 2 weeks.
