rwalia99 Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 I'm trying to book a stay June 21-24. I saw people get this hotel at $75 and $80 at similar times. I didn't get it at $80, $90, or $100. Any idea or tips what I should do? Is it better to wait until closer to the stay?
thereuare Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages.Note that you can't bid on a specific hotel, you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid). With this noted...Rates are date specific (based upon supply/demand) so it's not uncommon that you won't be able to replicate another user's winning bid if demand (ie- rates) for your dates are higher then the other users win.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com i see rates at the Hyatt for your dates start at $305/nite which makes your $100 bid less than 1/3 of prevailing rates... not a very high probability of success, especially for what appears to be a busy time in the area (or at least at this property). Is this a confirmed trip that you have to take for these dates OR will you cancel the trip (or postpone to different dates) if too expensive? Given hotel direct rates of $300+ what is your maximum bid for this stay? At what price do you lower your star rating and/or choose different dates of travel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. rwalia99 Posted June 8, 2013 Author Report Posted June 8, 2013 Thanks for your response. I really appreciate you taking the time to help. One point to disagree with - The rooms are only $200 on the Hyatt website, so I'm not sure where $300+ comes from.
thereuare Posted June 8, 2013 Report Posted June 8, 2013 Is this the Hyatt you're referring to? I'm seeing $305 on the hotel's own website too.. for June 21-24?Are we referring to the same property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
