Welcome to BetterBidding!

At current rates you'll likely need to be closer to $200+ to be successful for a 4* hotel in this zone. Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for an acceptable 4* hotel in this area?

You options come down to:

  • wait it out and hope for lower rates in the weeks ahead
  • raise your maximum bid
  • lower your star rating
  • include other nearby zones that may be acceptable
  • SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID

Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there.

Hi,

Tried to book a 4* hotel in Union Square East area. $165/night rejected.

Is it true the price is high because of San Fran Pride on Jun 29-30?

Need advice on pricing, please :-)

Thank you.

I asked the question a few days ago. Now I am thinking of split the stay between Union Sqaure East and Fisherman's Wharf, but have concerns of moving from one hotel to another since we will use public transit instead of renting a car.

What is a good price for the dates/areas for my stay? Shall I wait until last minute to get a good deal?

Thanks a lot.

Yes... and you never followed-up to the questions asked in the reply to your post. :(

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. If you ultimately do decide to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID, we'll use this thread for your first purchase (you can reflect your win by using the EDIT TO REPORT WIN button on the lower right corner of this page) and then start a NEW TOPIC for assistance with, or to report a win for, your second stay/purchase. This helps keep the board better organized and more useful for everyone so that we don't ultimately have topics with no resolution or conclusion.

Only you can decide if it's worthwhile or not to change hotels mid-stay. We have some users who would travel crosstown to save $5 while other users who wouldn't change even for $50/nite savings.

Note that your original dates are 6/26-7/1, but your most recent sub-set of dates is 6/29-6/30 which unless you have changed the return date of your trip, would leave you changing hotels more than once...

1) 6/26-6/29

2) 6/29-6/30

3) 6/30-71

By bidding/winning the middle date it 'forces' you to have TWO additional hotels, one before and one after... was this your intention?

See the related 'Bid Early or Bid Late' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

Once you decide you're ready to commit to a purchase let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for the assistance.

No spliting of my stay - too much trouble.

I also booked a fall-back hotel as suggested.

Will keep looking and consider the option of adding more areas. Definitely will keep you posted.
