I put in 3 bids at $50, $55 and $59 for a 3.5 star in Amherst, Cheektowaga, and Buffalo Airport but was rejected without a counteroffer.

I then put in a bid of $49, $52, and $55 for a 3 star in the same areas mentioned above and the 3rd time was the charm.

*Note there is another Holiday Inn Airport close by but that one is the "Express" (that one does seem newer and is ranked 11 on trip advisor instead of 13 for this one)

Not 100% happy because I paid same price for Millenium Hotel last year right across from Walden Galleria and "supposedly" a better hotel. However, from my experience with Millenium Hotels, they are getting really tired and outdated so often times a Holiday Inn is newer and cleaner despite what I believe is supposed to be a "cheaper" chain. So...perhaps I will be happy I paid the same! We shall see after this weekend.

On another note, my original plan was to go during Victoria Day (in Canada) / Memorial Day (in US) long weekend. The cheapest 1 star was around $60 (Red Roof or something similar) and I tried for 3 stars and I don't think I was going to get it for much less than $100. I didn't end up crossing the border. However, this is a repeat experience over the years so just a heads up....for hotels near the US/CAN borders frequented by us shopaholics....the long weekends often have a HUGE impact.

I have a long cross country trip planned later this year and plan to use Priceline so hopefully I will have something to contribute to the other state forums. :) Sorry for the rambling!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Sorry to hear if you're disappointed with this win, but rates are date specific so it's not really an apples-to-apples comparison based upon what you received in the area last year... besides the economy doing better this year then last (so they say) and the hotel business picking up, there could be specific events taking place on the dates above that are increasing demand and therefore also increasing hotel rates.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board. I believe this property is located in the Airport zone and have edited your topic title accordingly... if you believe it to be in the originally posted Buffalo East-Cheektowaga zone please let us know (this is the Holiday Inn at 4600 Genesee Street, correct?)
