1967hailhail Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 looking for ideas on bidding for 3-4* hotel in mtw mte cps hells kitchen areas for 10 nights 11 sept-21st septthanks mark
thereuare Posted June 5, 2013 Report Posted June 5, 2013 This is an expensive time of year in NYC... what is your maximum budget per nite? Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip? Also, note that at 3.5* and below in CPS is the Hudson Hotel which, while well located, has notoriously small rooms, even by NYC standards. Depending upon your needs for this trip this may be a zone you want to exclude at 3.5* and under if such a small room will bother you for an extended stay such as this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
1967hailhail Posted June 9, 2013 Author Report Posted June 9, 2013 Thanks for your reply my budget would be $250 per night.Wouldnt want the Hudson Hotel if rooms are small my goal is a 3* - 4* hotel maximum of $250 per night or cheaper thanks for your help Mark

1967hailhail Posted June 9, 2013 Author Report Posted June 9, 2013 im willing to pay up to $250 per night either for 3.5* or 4* hotel
thereuare Posted June 9, 2013 Report Posted June 9, 2013 You're still not answering the question so i will try to rephrase and provide an example on the differentiation...Do you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your $250/nite limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5* property... OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better? There is a key differentiation above which can be explained with the following example:4* Hotel A - will accept a bid at $2403.5* Hotel B - will accept a bid at $225If you first bid for a 4* hotel up to your limit you will receive 4* Hotel A at $240... if you're looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better you would receive Hotel B at $225 (and never have the chance to win the 4* hotel at $240)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1967hailhail Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 hello i have seen a 3 star hotel on hotwire for madison square gdns - hells kitchen area for $181 per nightBut doesnt show any amenities for hotel how would i find out which hotel it is My dates have changed now comming 09/08/13-09/18/13
1967hailhail Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 Been searching around to se if i could get an idea of hotel on HOTWIRE is the milford plaza in this area as that seems not to have any amenities
thereuare Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 Please update your threads as you bid as others may be following along and can benefit from the information. Are your last two posts referring to the same property as the Milford Plaza would be in HOTWIRE's Times Square zone, not in the MSG-HK zone. What is it exactly that you're looking for from this stay, as even after their recent renovations, the Milford Plaza still gets very mixed reviews... why are you seeking out this property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. 1967hailhail Posted July 28, 2013 Author Report Posted July 28, 2013 Hi im not seeking the milford plaza just trying to get a hotel sorted.I have used priceline bidding up to $210 with no luck over the past 3 weeks using the strategy u posted for me to use
thereuare Posted July 29, 2013 Report Posted July 29, 2013 I think the $210 that you have already bid, and the $240 that the strategy above went up to, is currently the difference between success and failure for this stay. At what point do you increase your bid or lower your star rating?Have you been using the discount code link in my signature as that expires this Wednesday.HOTWIRE does have a 4* hotel in the Times Square zone (Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly) i'm guessing the Millennium Broadway... and PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* MTE property for $239/nite (which with the discount link in my signature comes to $227/nite.Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. 1967hailhail Posted August 25, 2013 Author Report Posted August 25, 2013 Hi still bidding for 4 star hotel without any success am i right in thinking that i can add morningside hights and long island as they have no 4 star hotels in that area and would then have two free bids at 4 star hotels
Romelle Posted August 25, 2013 Report Posted August 25, 2013 Yes, you have the two free rebid zones correct.Have you considered splitting your bid into two or three different shorter bids? It could involve having to change hotels, but might help your situation. In order for a 10 night bid to be successful, some hotel has to have given rooms to PL for all 10 of those nights. With a split bid, you could bid at the 4* level for some of your nights, and then at the 3.5* level for the remaining ones.I didn't research all your zones and the different star levels, but I did look at Hotwire for 4* MSG-Hells Kitchen. Those rates were considerably higher for Sep 11, 17, 18 and 19. Romelle

1967hailhail Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Hi thanks for your help while im still going to use priceline to look for hotel im now thinking of waiting to last minute to book either with with priceline or hotwire and take my chances with the prices that are available. As it seems that i could prob book a hotel for the price that i have been bidding upto just now give or take a couple of hundred $.Would the be a good option to try.thanks mark
Romelle Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 If you use the last-minute technique (which can work), it is good to have a "Plan B" in the form of a cancelable back-up reservation.Romelle
thereuare Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 As it seems that i could prob book a hotel for the price that i have been bidding upto just now give or take a couple of hundred $.What 4* or better hotel are you able to book within $10-$20 of the prices you're bidding? Almost all 4* hotels i'm seeing are priced at nearly $300+.Also, while nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your stay, i think the risk of waiting for your stay is a bit higher then most due to the length of your stay AND that the United Nations is in session (which is always a busy time in NYC)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. If you do book a back-up please check for and use the links in our Support Page where we have links to most of the major hotel chains and online booking agencies. 1967hailhail Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 Hi thanks for reply i have already bid up to a maximum of $260.Would the time that im placing bids affect the outcome of my bids as im placing them at 10am uk time whigh would be 5am nyc.thanks for help mark
thereuare Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 The time of day you place your bid is not a factor in regards to having your bid accepted or not. However, you have already bid too much...PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone (which you have already bid) for $257/nite with:Pets Allowed Business Center Fitness Center ... using the discount code link in my signature gives an extra 10% Off bringing your equivalent bid price down to $231/nite (almost $300 less over 10 days than you have already bid)Does this work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. (or the PRICELINE EXPRESS link in my signature below) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
