sperra869 Posted September 20, 2005 Report Posted September 20, 2005 Thank you Better Bidders for the insights I gleaned from this board and your experiences... I would have never imagined I would score a downtown San Fransciso hotel over a weekend for $90.00 per night if I had not read it here first!I am two blocks from tne Moscone Center at a three star Courtyard Marriott on 2nd street for 5 nights for a total of 525.45 ($90.00 per plus taxes)This is an incredible savings for us - - the meeting hotel is the Downtwon Marriott, two blocks in the opposite direction on Fourth Street and offering special meeting rates of $207.00 per night to our group. Sure it has a 4 star rating but for the amount of time I will spend in the room - - "downstarring" is alright with me....that $500.00 savings is worth it!Truth be told - I know I really "double-lucked out" in the location department - - there were a ton of hotels listed on the handy dandy new map feature and I could have ended up with a very long walk or taxi/subway rides but then again, walking is good for me and subways are cheap <grin>

sperra869 Posted October 20, 2005 Author Report Posted October 20, 2005 Update on my stay ...This 3 star Marriott room far outsized and outfeatured the rooms my fellow conventioneers had at the 4 star downtown Marriott (they paid $207. per night on a special convention rate. I out scored on a multitude of levels. My 3 star marriott was less "glitzy" in lobby and restaurants but absolutely positively "above average" I also had less wait time for elevators and concierge services.I did have to walk back and forth to the Moscone Center but felt very safe, even at night alone. This was an outstanding priceline "win"
