tawang80 Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Hello all,Me and my girlfriend plans to visit Chicago during mid to late August, this will be a 5 - 7 days trips, depending on the # of attractions we'd like to see.I'm new to all these price bidding site and want to give it a try for this trip. The question when should I start bidding to get the best possible price? right now? a few weeks before? Can I get any savings if I avoid Sat nights, for example Aug 11 - 17?
AaronJB Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Are you driving or flying in? What would be your desired budget per night, desired star rating and desired zone?I would start taking a look at prices now and maybe planning out initial bids.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tawang80 Posted June 1, 2013 Author Report Posted June 1, 2013 Thank you for replying. We are taking the plane. We are looking for somewhere downtown (the Loop?) or at least nearby since we don't plan to drive in the city. Star rating 3 or above would be good, willing to pay anywhere between $40 - $60 per night.Usually when does hotels know that they have extra rooms and willing to let them out at a deal price?
thereuare Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 We are looking for somewhere downtown (the Loop?) or at least nearby since we don't plan to drive in the city. Star rating 3 or above would be good, willing to pay anywhere between $40 - $60 per night. While rates are not high for the dates you proposed above, your budget expectations are likely not realistic for this time of year.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 3* or better hotel in any of the zones you're considering? (i'd look at the NMA zone in addition to the Loop... the NMA zone will have more bars, restaurants, nightlife)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Downtown, I think you're probably looking at around $75-85.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tawang80 Posted June 1, 2013 Author Report Posted June 1, 2013 Thank you.I'll probably test my lucks in the next couple weeks, starting at $60 and see how thing goes. Will keep you posted.
