Canes98 Posted September 18, 2005 Report Posted September 18, 2005 Had previously bid for 4* at 56, 60, 65, and 69 with no luck. Last opportunity to bid before I leave for Europe, so I upped it to $80 and won the Le Meridien for 3 nights.Hotel is in an extemely convenient location and has had rave reviews on Tripadvisor.com. This is also a new hotel to add to the list.Oh, and an update. Brussels now offers 5* bidding. This was not an option the first time I bid a week or two ago, but has since shown up as an option. I did have an unsuccessful bid at $82 for a 5*, but I wasn't expecting to win at that price, I just bid for the heck of it. After my $82 5* bid was rejected, I bid $80 for 4* and won my hotel.
HB-IWC Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 This is a great hotel to stay at and has a superb location! I've been held back from bidding for Brussels as most of the hotels that have come up so far have been located rather away from the city center. I've got a trip to Brussels coming up early December and this win really makes me doubt as to whether to use Priceline.Le Meridien Brussels is conveniently located just opposite the entrance of the city's main Central Train Station, so should you arrive by plane, don't bother paying for a taxi, just take the airport express train and get out at Brussels Central. You can virtually walk in to Le Meridien from there! Also, this hotel is located within minutes of most of the city's tourist attractions: Grand Place, Royal Palace and Parliament Building, Stock Exchange, Rue de Bouchers, Gallerie Royale, you name it.Anyway, congratulations on your win. I'm sure you'll like it.
HB-IWC Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Forgot to add a question: anyone has an idea about the 5* level mentioned in the original post? What hotel could that be? I'm guessing there's only one. Could it be the Radisson SAS Hotel? That would potentially be a great buy as well, as it is located not so far from Le Meridien either.
Chris26WI Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 I think it will probably be the Royal Windsor Hotel which had appeared in Priceline quite some time ago already as a 5star for Brussels (very good location near Grand Place) or maybe the Amigo Hotel (also near Grand Place).
