Priceline Hotel: Help with NYC bidding 7/21 - 8/05

Hi,

First time trying priceline.

My friend and I are going to come to NY in the above dates.

I would like to get a 3* hotel or 2* hotel in the Upper West, CPS, MTW or TS with the bid from $100-$120.

Can you please give me some helps?

So far this year under $120 in NYC has been hard to come by at any star level, but fortunately some wins have been seen for rates not too much higher. As we often caution against the lower rated hotels in NYC as the quality can vary greatly (you may get a hotel that is perfectly acceptable and a great value... or you can get something where you wish you were staying elsewhere) i'll suggest a strategy for a 3* hotel in the zones above and if rejected we can then discuss your options or if lowering your star rating is the best bet for you this trip.

Also, note that at the 3.5* level and below in CPS the Hudson Hotel comes into play and while well located it has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) so if you include CPS in your bidding, even at the 3* level and below, this would need to be an acceptable outcome since your lower star bid could be upgraded to a higher star rated hotel (ie- the star rating you select on PRICELINE is the minimum you're willing to accept.. not the absolute star rating)

Unfortunately, none of the bids were accepted. Any suggestions?

Two weeks is a long stay in PRICELINE / HOTWIRE terms since if a hotel doesn't offer deeply discounted inventory for even just one nite of your stay, that hotel is not a possible outcome. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

If not, you can choose to:

• lower your star rating
• raise your bid
• include other nearby zone
• wait it out and hope for lower prices in the weeks ahead

Splitting the PL bid is an option. And i would like to avoid the the Hudson Hotel in CPS because of the small rooms.

Given the difficulty of this stay due to both length and budget, and you're now further limiting the zones by not bidding CPS, are any other zones acceptble... MSG, Chelsea, and/or ESB perhaps?

Are you willing to change hotels more then once this trip?
