Hi, I' new here and have already been reading a lot on here.

I am looking for a 4* hotel in NYC in MTE, MTW, TS, ESB or CPS. Chelsea and MSG would be alright as well but would prefer one of the other 5. I have already tried bidding up to 180 (with no real strategy) but no luck. Is it dellusional to try to find something for under 180 at that time? I check priceline express & hotwire regularely and the cheapest rates for that time are around 230.

Does someone have a bidding strategy or general opinion on how to resume?

Thank you so much

Welcome to Betteridding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

I have already tried bidding up to 180 (with no real strategy) but no luck.

Was this only in the first 5 zones (MTE, MTW, TS, ESB or CPS) or did you also include Chelsea and MSG in your bidding up to $180?

Is it dellusional to try to find something for under 180 at that time?

Not out of the realm of possibilities but current rates for these dates are high and obviously, based upon your rejected bids, it's not enough at this point in time.

Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? For instance, i think you may be able to get a 4* hotel for 6/20-6/25 (or 6/19-6/25) at or close to bid levels you have already tried... then you can 'fill-in' with a different hotel for the first 2 nites of your stay. You will (likely) need to change hotels mid-stay... but this should land you a hotel for an average room rate at under $200/nite.

Thanks for the reply. Have been using the links on here before anyway! :)

With somewhat of a plan I was only bidding MTE, MTW, TS, ESB & CPS. With the other 2 included I just did some late night impulse bidding...

I'm not sure how I feel about spliitting... I mean it would be an option but I can't really decide if splitting, going down to 3.5* or expanding the area would be the best option...

Does it make sense to do the same bidding a few days later or is that rather pointless?

Repeating the same bidding strategy (and prices) can make sense if you're hoping for/anticipating a drop in the minimum rates that hotels are willing to accept.
