_rjw_ Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 I'm trying to find a 4* hotel in downtown Chicago - PRICELINE zones 3,4, 7 & 8 for June 12-18. I've tried the re-bidding strategy a bit (adding Hyde Park, for example) but I keep getting rejected and I'm thinking my bid might be too low. I've gone as high as $195/night... is there any chance I might be able to score a 4* downtown for that price?HOTWIRE had a 4* hotel in the Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area for $191/night... wondering if it might be better to grab that while it lasts. It's only 75% recommended, though. Any idea what hotel it might be? Perhaps the Westin Michigan Avenue? Thanks for any insight or help you can offer a newbie! Love the forums.-R

To avoid any confusion, both now and in the future, please include the zones you're willing to accept by PRICELINE name, and we'll have a look at rates for these dates in the zones that you're bidding.HOTWIRE had a 4* hotel in the Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area for $191/night... wondering if it might be better to grab that while it lasts. Why even bid $195 on PRICELINE above if this HOTWIRE hotel is offered at $191 (or at least investigating this hotel first before bidding higher than the HOTWIRE offer??)Love the forums. Thanks for the compliments on the site. :)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Why even bid $195 on PRICELINE above if this HOTWIRE hotel is offered at $191 (or at least investigating this hotel first before bidding higher than the HOTWIRE offer??)The amenities listed on the HOTWIRE hotel I mentioned are:4-star Hotel in Magnificent Mile North - Water TowerThis Hotel features the following amenities:Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroomHandicapped parking Roll-in shower The deal is pretty similar, I'm just wondering if you'd know if PRICELINE bidding might yield a better deal at this time of year in those downtown Chicago areas...Thanks again for the help and quick response!-R

thereuare Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 I'm looking at Lincoln Park, McCormick Place, Millenium Park/Loop/Grant Park Area, and North Michigan Ave - River North. Are you familiar with Chicago at all as the McCormick Place zone is not really centrally located for the average visitor unless they are attending a conference at the convention center.Best guess for the HOTWIRE property above would be the Allerton Crowne Plaza. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! AaronJB Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Lincoln Park - while a very nice area and well worth a visit - is also not convenient if you're going to be spending much of your time downtown. Additionally, the lack of hotels in that zone often leads to less aggressive discounts.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
_rjw_ Posted May 29, 2013 Author Report Posted May 29, 2013 Thanks for the advice! I've never been to Chicago so that's good to know about Lincoln Park being out of the way.Any idea what hotel the Express Deal on PRICEl.LINE might be? 4 Star Hotel in North Michigan Ave - River North Area., with the following amenities:Free InternetIndoor or Outdoor PoolPets AllowedRestaurantBusiness CenterFitness CenterRated 7.0/10 (or higher)Last question, I promise! :) Love these forums, they're very helpful.
AaronJB Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. I'd guess the W Lakeshore would certainly be a possibility.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
_rjw_ Posted March 4, 2014 Author Report Posted March 4, 2014 Forgot to follow up! This ended up being the W Lakeshore for $209/night. Thanks again for the help and feedback.
