thrasher818 Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 I am looking for a 4* or higher hotel in downtown Boston for 1 night (6/27-6/28). I am hoping to spend around $150 but so far have not had any luck with priceline. Any tips? The zones I have tried so far are: Quincy Market/Financial District, Beacon Hill, Boston Common/Theater District, and Copley Square/Back Bay. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
AaronJB Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What is the top price point you've bid up to so far?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 If you're willing to go a bit higher PRICELINE EXPRESS has a 4* hotel in the Boston Common - Theater District with Indoor or Outdoor Pool, Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Free Internet, Business Center, Fitness Center for $203/nite. Using this PRICELINE EXPRESS link and code READYSET5 gives an extra 5% off bringing your cost down to ~$193/nite.Alternately, while not as centrally located (but do-able) you can likely get a 4* hotel in the Waterfront-Convention Center area for ~$125 or so, if you're willing to give up a bit of convenience/location for ~$75 worth of savings.Lastly, if you can also likely get a 3.5* property for ~$125/nite in one of the zones that you have already bid if you're willing to give up a half star rating for the savings.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thrasher818 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 Thanks for the reply. 3.5* would be fine, just need a decent place to stay for the night. Was hoping to avoid Boxer(Bullfinch) hotel as it has some pretty bad reviews.

thrasher818 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 No luck so far up to $175...I did not bid 3.5* in Boston Common/Theatre District because I did not want to end up with Park Plaza, which has gotten bad reviews.I bid 3.5* and above in Beacon Hill, Boston Harborfront/Aquarium, Copley Square/Back Bay, and Quincy Market/Financial District.I bid 4* and above in Revere/Logan Airport up to $150 with no luck. The above include TONS of rebids. Maybe there is a convention in town or some reason why everything is so expensive. It's getting to the point where bidding on priceline will save me minimal money compared to some deals on other travel sites.
thrasher818 Posted May 26, 2013 Author Report Posted May 26, 2013 I ended up taking a 4.5* deal in Quincy Market/Financial District on Hotwire for $208. I figured if I was going to pay $200 anyway, it might as well be for a nice hotel. I need to stay close to a T stop so the Waterfront/Convention area would have been a hassle, even if it is a little cheaper.I got the Intercontinental Boston. AAA rate through their website was $251, so not an amazing deal but I'll take it and it should be a great place to stay. Thanks again for the advice!Listed below are the amenities on Hotwire. It listed retail price as $399!
