Powderbaba Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 Need some help on this. Am planning to travel to Las Vegas from 6/28 to 7/6 (8 nights). Tried hotwire for 5 star hotels on the strip (north & south). Results showed 2 on each side. Am pretty sure Vdara (south) and Trump (north) are the 2 cheaper options as they mention Suite, Smoke-free but No Casino.Wanted to check which the other 2 could be:-North 5 star - 90% Hotwire recommended - $124/night - Trip Advisor rating not mentioned - $20 resort feeResortFree ParkingSuiteCasinoFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis NearbySpa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower South 5 star - 90% Hotwwire recommened - US$138/night - US$25 resort fee - Trip Advisor 4.5ResortFree ParkingCasinoFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessGolf NearbySpa ServicesAccessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parkingRoll-in showerHere are my concerns... the South hotel seems to be Aria. I don't want to stay at Aria ideally. Wouldn't mind Cosmo or Bellagio though. Do the latter hotels ever feature on Hotwire? Should I wait for a few more days? For the North hotel, it could be Venetian/Pallazio... but the $20 fee has me stumped. I don't want to be stuck in a far north end hotel like Hilton Vacation Suites et al. What's your view on this one?
thereuare Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Best guess for the Strip North property would be the Venetian or Palazzo... my guess for the Strip South property would be the Aria or Bellagio, although i'll add that the former is seem much more frequently than the latter.Nobody can say if rates for your dates will come down in the next few days or move even higher, but these rates do seem pretty good, imo, considering your stay includes two Friday nites and one Saturday nite. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Powderbaba Posted May 24, 2013 Author Report Posted May 24, 2013 I think I will wait for a couple of days and take a chance if Cosmo comes up. I was scrolling through someone's thred and he mentioned that Cosmo could by 4.5 star. Is that true?
Romelle Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Assuming you are talking about the Cosmopolitan, it is a 5* on Priceline retail. So a safe bet it is also a 5* on the bidding side. Romelle

We're always working to improve our site. Occasionally, we reorganize our pages, and as a result, bookmarks you have set for our site may no longer be accurate.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Do you get this message after you enter your credit card information OR when trying to click-thru to the 'details' page from the first list of search results?Try using the HOTWIRE search box on the top left of this page OR in a new browser using our BiddingHelper.com.Let us know if any success thru either of the routes above. Powderbaba Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 Got the response AFTER I entered all the details.Same problem with the new links.I have read a lot of negative reviews about Hotwire which state that hotels do not honor the bokings on many occasions, and customer only gets to know during check-in. Any views?
AaronJB Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Hotels occasionally overbook (and that is not an issue exclusive to HOTWIRE or PRICELINE), but the reported cases to the board of people who were "walked" - moved to another hotel after they arrived and found the hotel was overbooked - are extremely infrequent (at best.) There should also be some manner of compensation if that does actually happen.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Romelle Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 When you link to HOTWIRE, on the Hotwire site up in the right hand corner it says "Welcome" and your username. On the next line it says "(Not username?)". Click on that and make yourself up a new user name. When something like you are experiencing gets set someplace, it can be sort of "sticky" and hard to shake off. Unless you really understand the source of it, and systems nowadays are so complex one rarely does. Romelle
