Hello.. I am trying to bid on a hotel room in the North Michigan Avenue area for June 19th-23rd. I started off with 3.5 stars at $65 and bid all the way up to $150 in small increments using all my rebid zones. I am willing to go down to 3 stars because I just want a good central location and a clean room to sleep at night.

My budget is around $150 max. Do I need to possibly look at the Millenium area? It seems that the lowest priced 4 star on Hotwire is around $200 in the Magnificent mile at this time so I was thinking I should atleast be able to get a 3 star in the mid $100's.

Any help in this situation will be very much appreciated. I have learned a lot from this board and of course I started each bid with the link at the top of the page.

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

It looks like the issue may be the last nite of your stay which is substantially more expensive then the previous three nites... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? You may be able to succeed for the first 3 nites at prices you have already bid, but you'll then need to change hotels for the last nite of your stay and i suspect it will likely be substantially more than the previous nites. This can work out particularly well if, for example, you don't have 'downtown' plans on Saturday nite and an early flight out on Sunday... change hotels to the airport zone (usually one of the least expensive zones in most regions) for the last nite.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Yes that will work. This is my first trip to Chicago so what other area do you recommend trying to bid in? Do not have any particular plans for Saturday night so I am open.

Also what do you think I should start my bidding back at for the first 3 nights?

For the first 3 nites i would try as follows:

When bidding 4* in Chicago you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* NMA...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for info. I went back and started bidding 3 star at $85 and all the way up to $125 and won the Hotel Sax for 6/19-6/22. Thanks for all of your help and of course I used your PRICELINE link to start my bidding.
