toocool Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 HI, Ive been reading and doing some searches via the links on the site for two weeks or so and am now ready to bid with a little help, My girl and I are heading to the US for the first time for 2 1/2 weeks in June from Australia (San Fran, NYC, LA and vegas)I am trying to get the NYC accom settled first then do the rest with a bit more knowledge.Ok, We are trying for a 4* star first, From 14 June till 20 June Up to $180 in either TS, MTE, MTW, MSG and some ESB.I know this may be difficult and I am open to suggestions about areas to avoid or to go for. If I fail at $180 im happy to work down to 3.5* and so on as we are just after a nice clean placewith good access to the attractions etc.thanx
thereuare Posted May 22, 2013 Report Posted May 22, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates I believe that $180 or less will be difficult for a 4*, but if you want to exhaust this option first, you can try the following:When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* TS, MTE, and MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MSG and ESB...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MTE, and MSG...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MTW and ESB...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MTE, and ESB...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* MSG and MTW...Bid $153, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $158, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MTE, MTW, MSG...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* TS, MTE, MTW, ESB...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* ESB and MSG and TS and MTE...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* ESB and MSG and TS and MTW...Bid $168, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $173, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 4* ESB and MSG and TS and MTE and MTW...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $178, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. toocool Posted May 23, 2013 Author Report Posted May 23, 2013 ok, As you and I thought, $180 was not enough for a 4*, I will now work my way through the 3.5*s.I have noticed that the 4* re bid zones each have 3.5* hotels in them, so is the next step to just bid new zones ? thanx
thereuare Posted May 23, 2013 Report Posted May 23, 2013 HOTWIRE currently has a 4* hotel offered in the ESB zone for $177/nite with:Free Internet Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Best guess for this property would be St Giles The Court... does this work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. toocool Posted May 24, 2013 Author Report Posted May 24, 2013 Hi, That property has not been coming up in my searches, after reading another post about using the US web site and currency I will give it some more searches today and hopefully have a place to stay by the end of the day.Edit: that Property must now be gone, St Giles The Court would have been fantastic....
thereuare Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?HOTWIRE has what appears to be the 4* Kitano in the ESB zone for $167/nite (Boutique, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Roll-in Shower) for 6/14-6/17, but you will then likely need to change hotels for the second half of this stay and unless rates move lower between now then, consider lowering your star rating, increasing your bid, or including other nearby zones.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. toocool Posted June 4, 2013 Author Report Posted June 4, 2013 ok, After bidding up to $190 4* and $180 3 1/2* and 3* and searching Hotwire for the last two weeks I decided to split the stay6/14-17 I was getting lots of 150-170 4* on Hotwire and today there was a $129 4* MTE I matched it to The Roosevelt Hoteland while the reviews where not great it looked fine to me, in a great location and I was happy when it was confirmed as this hotel. So Hotwire The Roosevelt Hotel6/14-17 4* $129 Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityAccessible bathroomRoll-in showerNow, I will be on the lookout for 6/17-20 which is looking quite expensive at this stage.
