kayakhan Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Looking for some help/assistance Vegas from Aug 2nd-5th. Would like to stay in a 5* hopefully on the south end but could live on the North just as long as it is not the Trump (No casino) PriceLine Express has 2 5 stars available on the North at - $153 a night and another at $116 but the $116 has no casino icon which I assume makes it the Trump. For the south end it says "Las Vegas South Vicinity" at $163 for a 5 Star. the "vicinity" is scaring me. Any clue what hotel that may be? Hotwire - has 5* available for North at $104 and $147, the hint icon says -Encore, Wynn or Venetian or BellagioFor the south end it has 5* available for $152 or $134, the hint icon says either Skylofts, Cosmo or Mandarin. Best to go with these or try bidding for a lower rate? Thoughts!! Thanks
yellowdog Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding :)You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. Most of the times can you undercut the HOTWIRE price with PRICELINE. 5* South Strip got Vdara Hotel and this hotel don't have a casino. The last report we have is that Trump is located in the Strip North Vicinity zone. So you should be OK with using Strip North zone.the hint icon says -Encore, Wynn or Venetian or BellagioThe purpose is to give users an idea of what hotels fall into which star categories so that they can determine which star rating likely best fits their needs, not that it will be one of the properties listed. And some hotels listed under this "hint" isn't located in the zone you're looking at.Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there. Please use the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases and searchesYellowdog.
kayakhan Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 Many thanks for quick reply. 2 of the hotels on hotwire (one on the north and the other on the south) do not have Casinos which I want to avoid. That leaves me 2 left on Hotwire that have a casino and are 5*. A hotel on the north end for $148 a night w 95% thumbs up and a south end for $151 with a 90% thumbs up. I would like the South End one. Should I book this or try bidding on hotwire for a lower rate? Any clue which hotel it may be? Thoughts?
yellowdog Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 I would like the South End one. Should I book this or try bidding on hotwire for a lower rate? Any clue which hotel it may be? You can't use PRICELINE for 5* South Strip since you have Vdara in that zone. And this leaves you with HOTWIRE as only option. Please list the amenities HOTWIRE associates with the hotel you're looking at and we'll be happy to have a look at this. Please don't copy/paste to your thread... post only the amenity names (and not the full descriptions that go along with it) as it will make your post easier for us to read and helps minimize the chance that we miss an amenity when researching your hotel. Please use the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases and searchesYellowdog
