My husband and I are going to Boston for a concert 6/12. Its at the Bank of America Pavillion so I would love a hotel in the downtown area if possible but I don't want to spend more than $125/night. Anything below a 4* sounds awful. Any suggestions for bidding would be greatly appreciated. Unsuccessful so far :/

Welcome to BetterBidding.

Rates are on the higher side for your date. My guess is that $125 for a 4* don't cut it. A 3.5* or 3* is more within your budget.

Can you please post the name of the zone(s) you're willing to stay in and we'll have a look at this.

At current rates any 4* in 'true' downtown will likely cost you more than $125/nite... please list all acceptable zones, by PRICELINE name, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Keep in mind that your hotel can be anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone.

Waterfront-Convention center (min 4*), Quincy Market-Financial district (min 4*), Harborfront-Aquarium (min 4*), Copley Square-Back Bay (minimum of 3 1/2*), Boston Common-Theater District (min 4*)

I would love to spend less than $125 if at all possible but I feel I might need a miracle! Thanks again!

If it would save me a significant amount of money, I would also be open to Cambridge East and West

...the price is most important.

Then do you want to bid all acceptable zones and win with the one with the lowest price?

While i think that based upon current rates your budget will difficult at either star level, did you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3.5*... OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip?

Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

The goal is the least expensive hotel with minimum 3.5*

So if you're starting by 3.5* bidding, should we be including Waterfront, Quincy Market, Harborfront, and/or Boston Common in the bidding strategy since for these zones you previously indicated you wanted to a 4* minimum here??

Please clarify and we'll suggest a strategy to follow.

Also, we will include both Cambridge zones as well.

While i think your $125 budget will be difficult, you can begin as follows:

When biding 4* in Boston you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Waterfront, Quincy Market, Harborfront, Copley Square, Boston Common...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $108, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* Cambridge East, Cambridge West...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $123, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125

Any questions feel free to ask.

If the above is rejected should we then exclude Waterfront, Quincy Market, Harborfront, and/or Boston Common in any 3.5* bidding strategy?

This is ridiculous!! How much do you think I'll have to spend on a room? I went as low as 3 stars with a bid of $135 and still no hotel!!

I did 3 1/2* for Cambridge East, West, and Copley Square. No deal

I went down to 3* for Cambridge East, West, Beacon Hill. I even added other areas to get more bids. Still nothing!

Please help! I'm extrememly frustrated. :(

Even rates in the suburbs are high and at current rates i think you're still going to have trouble with a 3.5* or better at $125 or less, but to give it a try, did you want to first try for a 4* up to your maximum bid and then lower to 3.5* if rejected, OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this trip?

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $108, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE

Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Thank you for sharing your result with the board!

I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post, which would not have been seen unless you clicked the 'See all' link during the check-out process. Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the complete list of amenities associated with this property... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Enjoy your stay.
