Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) The Venetian

Hi Everyone,

BB has always helped me with rooms. Hopefully everyone was wondering about "What do I need to bid to get a 5 star hotel during memorial day weekend!?!" Well here it is!!

For the beginners, I used all 12 of my bid zones for a 5 star hotel only in the Strip North area. So basically when doing your rebid zones I did not choose Strip Vicinity North (I got Trump last time, never again if you want a casino!) and Strip Vicinity South. I placed a total of 23 bids over the course of 2 days (yes I am very last minute on these things). 12 bids on Sunday on 5/19/2013 and 11 bids today on 5/20/2013. I would list all my bids but I will summarize, on the first day which I used up all 12 of my bid zones and did not win, my start bid was 135 and I gradually incremented by 5 and sometimes by 3 or 2. I ended up with 181 and it was a no "win" day for my first 12 bids. I did not believe that it could be this high, but hey, it's memorial day weekend. So today (5/20/2013), I started off at 183 and as I inched towards the $200 mark, my final few bids were, $188, $191, $195, $199, $203,$205, and finally $210. I should have used my 11th rebid zone at $207 or $208, but I was scared I was not going to get it and it was desperation time. So for those who are in my shoes and have not won, try somewhere between $205 and $210. But again, my final win bid was $210. Now the wife can stop bugging me about get her a room!!

Again for the beginners, some word of advice. Know where you are bidding, what you are bidding for, and know when it is sometimes better to just say "i will add $5 bucks to the increment and call it a day". This win is definitely not the best, but for procrastinators like me, it was better than the $228 I saw on Hotwire for a 5 star hotel, which based on the amenities was either the Palazzo or the Venetian (resort, casino, spa, etc.).
