Queenoid Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 Hi! Thanks very much for this site!I have been trying for a hotel in Dublin for a couple of days. Two rooms on June 13 and 14. I began high, asking for 5* in the city center. Using my rebids, I began at $110 per room (aggressive, I know,) and eventually got to $130 per room with no takers. I am certainly willing to slum it in a 4* ;) or to go into the City Center South area, but I want to begin low again,so I think I need to wait.Anyway, advice? Any recent winning bids? Thanks again!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 You can bid the South zone immediately if you haven't included it in any of your previous bids. To do so:1) close the current browser (likely already done so)2) use the board link to re-access PRICELINE3) bid x* for the City Centre South zone (only)4) you can then even add the City Centre zone to your City Centre South bid if the previous bid is rejected (and both zones are still acceptable)If you need a more specific bidding strategy let us know the star rating, zone(s), and maximum bid we'll advise accordingly. it's not clear above if your next move is to add other zones or lower your star rating)Also, while in Dublin, i highly recommend Paulie Pizza... we enjoyed it so much our fist nite in town that we brought our group of six back on our last nite in the city. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

Queenoid Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 My next step is probably to go South, but I don't know what the 5* hotels are. I don't want to go to Dun Laoghaire! Quick question - I need to go back and reopen from this site with each rebid? Seems so.Thanks for the pizza advice! I lived in Dublin for 6mos when dinosaurs roamed the earth, but I hear it is much changed. For example, there were no Hiltons or Westins (or international hotels) when I lived there.
Romelle Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 My next step is probably to go South, but I don't know what the 5* hotels are. Up in the Tools menu is a particularly wonderful tool called MAPS and HOTELS.com. If you plug in your dates and "dublin" you can see what hotels are available in the area on your dates via PRICELINE retail and hotels.com. You can select just certain star levels and some other criteria. You can use a smaller or larger radius (1 mile seemed to isolate Dublin proper, but you might also want to look at 3 or 5 miles. Also, at the beginning of this Priceline-Other Countries is a list of hotels members have reported. You'll see that so far only three 5* hotels have been reported for Dublin, and they are all City Center. There may well be others in South. In different cities I've gotten hotels that hadn't been reported yet. Romelle
Queenoid Posted May 19, 2013 Author Report Posted May 19, 2013 Hey, thanks!!!! I've been thrashing around, and this will help a lot!
Romelle Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Hope you find something you like. I was there several years ago. Hotels were jammed, with astronomical rates. I ended up staying at Trinity College - your basic beat-up primitive old dorm rooms. Still - right in the middle of everything. Worked quite nicely.Romelle
