thereuare Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! It's difficult to say with too high of a confidence with just one common amenity showing, but my best guess for this one would be the Tremont hotel. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 The Tremont gets mixed reviews and is a somewhat older property, but it is in an awesome location right off Michigan Ave. If you are going to be out and about for much of your stay, the location is highly convenient. Unfortunately, other options are very pricey for these date/s and things don't seem to improve when splitting the stay.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
nat181818 Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 Many thanks for your help.I think I might go away and do some more research before asking for some help with a bid strategy instead, hoping I might be able to get something a little better that way.
yellowdog Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 nat181818We would be happy to help you with this.If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night before tax/fees, zone(s) you're willing to stay in and the star rating for the hotel. Please use the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases and searchesYellowdog.
nat181818 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 Hi there,I'm looking for a hotel from 15 June - 22 June please, with a maximum budget of $110 a night including taxes. I would like to try for a 4* hotel which may be optimistic with these prices, but I see no harm in trying and if it doesn't work I'll think about lowering my star rating. We would like to stay in NMA, Millennium Park, Loop and Grant Park Area or Lincoln Park please. Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. What is your maximum bid amount (before fees and taxes)??Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nat181818 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Report Posted May 25, 2013 I'm going to guess $95, I don't really get US taxes.
thereuare Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 We can suggest a strategy for whatever you'd like, but at the moment i don't think you're in the right ballpark in terms of rates for these dates.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable 3* hotel in one of the areas you're bidding? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
nat181818 Posted May 27, 2013 Author Report Posted May 27, 2013 Using the website suggested it's $216 for 3* Holding Inn and Suites Downtown Chicago
thereuare Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 The hotel above is not 'known' to participate with PRICELINE (ie- it hasn't yet been reported to the board) but even if it does participate, the rate shown puts your $95 bid price at less than half of prevailing rates which gives you a low probability of success. At current rates you're more likely looking at the $140-$160 before fees/taxes to be successful for a 3* hotel in one of these zones.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
