thereuare Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! When PRICELINE shows amenities next to a star rating on the Name Your Own Price page these are not amenities for a specific hotel, but rather amenities that are present at all hotels at that star rating in the zone.So imagine a zone with only two hotels:Hotel A: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, BusinessHotel B: Boutique, Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Hi-Speed InternetIn this zone only 'Pool' would be shown as a guaranteed amenity as that is the only amenity that is present at all hotels in the zone at this star level. Were you looking to bid on a hotel for the lowest price or is it important to know the amenities offered for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joyfulbidder Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 We are looking for a good deal, but we may be willing to bid higher for a hotel if we know which hotel it is. For example, the only 2.5* hotel listed on betterbidding for this region is the Hampton Inn. We would be happy to stay at the Hampton Inn. Our backup hotel is the Homestead Studio Suites, which is one of the 2-star hotels that you have listed on betterbidding. I am hoping that if we bid on a 2.5 or 3 star hotel, the hotel we get will be better than this one or at least less expensive than this one. The only specific amenity that I really really want is a pool. In this region of Florida, I haven't seen a hotel yet that doesn't have a pool, so I found it odd that this amenity did not show up on the 2.5 star name-your-own-price list. Can you (or anyone else) help identify the two express deal hotels?

thereuare Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 The only specific amenity that I really really want is a pool. In this region of Florida, I haven't seen a hotel yet that doesn't have a pool, so I found it odd that this amenity did not show up on the 2.5 star name-your-own-price list.As noted above, any amenities shown on the NYOP bidding screen need to be present at every hotel at that star rating in the zone. So there may be an Extended Stay America or some other budget hotel that is 2.5* rated that doesn't have a pool (or never informed PRICELINE that they have a pool)... this would exclude the pool amenity from being listed on the NYOP bidding page. Even if there are 100 hotels at this star rating, and 99 of them have a pool, this amenity would not be listed since there is at least one hotel at that star level (or higher) that does not have a pool.Given that a Pool is a must have (vs. a want) are you willing to risk bidding given that Pool is not listed as a guaranteed amenity OR do you want to go with something that is showing a pool amenity? What is your rate at the Homestead Suites back-up hotel and what is your maximum budget (per nite before taxes/fees) for this trip at something equivalent or nicer? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. joyfulbidder Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 My backup rate is between $45 and $50 per night, including taxes and fees, and I was hoping to stay at or under $60 per night (including taxes and fees). I may be willing to go up to $70 per night for a really nice hotel, especially if the hotel has a buffet. I probably am willing to risk not getting a pool if I think the risk very low. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't get a pool, being relatively close to the beach. It just happens to be the only amenity I was specifically looking for. I would still like to find the identity of the 2* and 2.5* express deal hotels, both of which have pools, if possible. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 For the 2.5* my guess would be the La Quinta or the Holiday Inn Express... i don't have a guess for the 2* property. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help.PS- please note from our Support Page that we are an affiliate of the Homestead Hotels as well as most other major hotel chains and online booking agencies... please check for and use the links there for your reservations/purchases whenever possible. joyfulbidder Posted May 18, 2013 Author Report Posted May 18, 2013 The hotels you suggested are not on the betterbidding list of hotels for my region (Clearwater-Saint Petersburg North Zone). Are they in this region? Should they be added to the list?
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2013 Report Posted May 18, 2013 I believe the above are guesses. When/if they are confirmed, they will be added to the list.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
