Hotwire Hotel: hotwire for Liverpool (UK)

I have been a regular user of Priceline and have never had a bad experience. When they say 4 star, they mean 4 star. I have always got either Hilton, Westin, Crown Plaza or similar hotels. This time I decided to try Hotwire for the first time.

They were advertising a 4 star hotel in Liverpool for $75 (plus junk fees) which they said was $148 for the dates I wanted. In their hotel list, they said that 4 star hotels are usually Hilton, Crown Plaza, Indigo or similar. After paying, I was informed I have the Staybridge Suites! This hotel is $107 on their own website, so my grand saving was $7 per night! I am originally from Liverpool and although this is a nice hotel, it is certainly not 4 star.

I called Hotwire customer service which was a complete waste of time as their fine print at the bottom of the page releases them from legal problems.

It is my contention that they are deliberately using false advertising and I hope other travellers heed my words and use Priceline instead. I would NEVER use Hotwire again.
