mirjamallev Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 Hello! It's my first time using Priceline, so any help would be really appreciated.I'm travelling with my mother to New York on July 18-24, so 6 nights.I don't know lot about neibourghoods in Manhattan, but as we really like walking, it would be nice to stay somewhere central.Subway or train access is also important as we need to go to Fort Lee (NJ) for one day.I have been thinkig about ME, MW, TS, CPS, ESB. Is Hell's Kitchen good area to stay? Our budget is about 185USD incl taxes and fees. Would like 4* hotel, but I don't know if it's possible with my budget, so I'm happy with 3,5 also.I have read about rebidding zones, do I understand correctly, that if I want 4* hotel, but there is none in Long Island City, I can feel free to bid on that area and definately won't end up there. But if I lower my star rating, I have to change zones again.I tried to bid yesterday: ME- 130USD, but no luck.I have used both Hotwire and PRICELINE links trought this website for my searches.Thank you!
thereuare Posted May 16, 2013 Report Posted May 16, 2013 HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $150/nite which would appear to be the Doubletree Metropolitan... would this be of interest? There is also a 4* hotel in the MSG-HK zone for $153/nite which i'm guessing is the Ramada Plaza. Are either of the above an option or do you wish to continue bidding on PRICELINE (and include other acceptable zones).Currently Long Island City is a re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC, but there is a 2nd re-bid zone as well, and you should know how to check/determine these on your own since they can change at any time and therefore need to be confirmed before each bidding cycle. If you're not sure how to determine your re-bid zones see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to confirm your TWO re-bid zones with the board that you have at the 4* level.Lastly, to get to Fort Lee there is no train or subway service (that i'm aware of)... you'll need to go to the Port Authority (42nd St and Eighth Ave) and take the NJ Transit but there... see this Bus 158 schedule to confirm if that gets you near/close to where you want to be in Fort Lee.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mirjamallev Posted May 17, 2013 Author Report Posted May 17, 2013 Thank you for the information.Ramada Plaza New Yorker sounds great as it's close to rail station and Bus terminal. Is this the hotel? <link removed>
thereuare Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 HOTWIRE hotel offer links contain sessions so they won't work on any computer except your own, and even then the will expire after a short period of time.If you search HOTWIRE for your dates and see a 4* hotel in the MSG-HK zone with:Free Internet Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... best guess for this property is the Ramada Plaza New Yorker. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. thereuare Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 Congratulations on your success! For the future, please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE's page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Enjoy your stay.
