Priceline Hotel: NEWBIE :) Carlsbad, CA area

Should I use Hotwire or Priceline? Probably check both? I'd love help on a strategy and an idea of a starting point for prices. I'm sure others have done this but I don't know where to look. Oh--and we're going to have 3 kids with us so we need a room that sleeps 5. Thanks!

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy.

It's possible, and the hotel would be within their right to do so. In an extreme situation a hotel could even deny you a room if the room is designated for a maximum of four guests as per fire code. Since i would assume the parks in this area make it a 'family friendly' zone and the hotels are used to accommodating families (some of which are greater than four members), the risk would be less than in a place such as NYC where rooms are notoriously small to begin with and a large percentage of rooms only have one bed and no room for a rollaway, it would still be a risk nonetheless that you would need to be willing to accept if you were to move forward with HOTWIRE.
