Hi,

I've been trying to get a hotel in either the Loop or North Michigan Ave areas for July 19-21 on PRICELINE. I'm trying 3.5 star and up and so far am up to $99 but still haven't got anything. Any suggestions?? Is that an expensive time to stay in Chicago?

The Summer months are generally more expensive with nicer weather, more traffic, baseball and other events.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay? I think the Loop area will likely be moderately cheaper - I'm guessing a 4* win will likely require a $105-120 bid.

I am now up to $122 with no success so far. I saw that someone else on the board won a 4* in the same areas for the weekend before I am going at $112 a night. Any advice? Should i switch to Hotwire?

It would appear that rates have gone up since you originally posted last week.

Using MAPS and HOTELS.com that is the best rate you're currently able to find at a suitable hotel in one of the zones that you're bidding? What is the best rate you're able to find on HOTWIRE for a 4* hotel in one of these zones?

I added 3.5* criteria and got up to $134 before i ran out of rebids. I see there is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for the "north michigan ave - river north" for $107, can you help to identify which this might be?? thanks

I ended up trying the name your own price again but added 3 star. I got the Residence Inn By Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile for $101 using the PRICELINE link. I'm quite happy with this one!

This is an unbelievably good deal for this property during a busy period. One suggestion would be to request a high floor room facing North. Rooms facing North on the top couple of floors should offer some partial water view.
