Hello, Im looking at a room from June 25-29 in maui which is not listed.

Would anyone be able to possibly identify the room by the amenities. The price is $210 per night.

Lastly, what would you do if you would like to book a 4/5 star hotel at the best price? Should i say go to priceline and bid at 180 per night possibly and if nothing up to 200 gets accepted, book through hotwire?

Thank you and here are the amenities:

Resort, Free Parking, Beachfront, Fitness, Pools, Restaurants, Laundry, High Spped Internet, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Childrens Activity, Accessible path/room/bathroom, Handicapped Parking

Welcome to BetterBidding :)

You can always try to undercut the price on HOTWIRE with PRICELINE. You have 5+ weeks untill your stay so I would give PRICELINE a try.

Would you like to try PRICELINE first or should we try to ID the HOTWIRE hotel for you?

If you would like to get help with a bidding strategy so please post your budget/night before tax/fees (4* vs 5*) and the zone(s) you're willing to stay in.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there.

Thanks Yellowdog, I have checked my messages and clicked the link.

For Maui, for the 25-27th I would like to spend ~$250 all in per night, and would be willing to go a bit more for the 27th-29th (Say $350 a night) However, the one exception would be the four seasons (I think i spotted it at $475 on a hotwire rate a week or two back, but haven't seen it since last week) if that comes back I would be willing to do that.) I would like to stay on the west coast of Maui either north or south works.

I tried doing more research and the 4* may be the Makena beach and golf, not sure how nice of a property that is but the rooms itself could definitely use renovation.

Let me know what ya think :) and if i should go to priceline.

Thanks again

Most of the times can you undercut the price on HOTWIRE with PRICELINE but you can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE You have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) you select.

If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.

Please start a separate thread for your 27th-29th stay.

Excellent, in this case, I would be willing to do priceline, as I am not super eager to be staying in the hotwire hotel (if it is the makena beach)

an fyi for everyone

I think $210 is about the most I would consider paying for the Makena Golf Resort too. There is a 5 star on Lanai thats available for many dates in summer, your dates are $278

Its probably the Four Seasons Lodge at Keole

Even if you are on Maui prior or after, you can take the ferry to Lanai

Is there a reason you're looking to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID?

I would like to stay on the west coast of Maui either north or south works.

To avoid any confusion, please list the zone(s) that you're willing to accept by PRICELINE name.

Please clarify the zones you're willing to bid and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.

Im splitting my bid as I would not mind spending a bit more then 2nd two days at somewhere more expensive but am fine staying at a 4* for the first two, I don't mind switching hotels.

I would only be looking to stay in the Ka'anapali - Lahaina area, or wailea makena. I think I would prefer Kaanapali though, would you consider the hotels there to be nicer?

I just submitted a bid for 25-27th for 220, then added a zone and did 232,and was declined however.

Thanks Roadguy, I looked into this and the property, while it looked amazing, didnt quite look liek "hawaii", it almost looks like an amazing ranch in the south, so I'm not sure if i would be a huge fan, unless you can convince me otherwise. (I know theres a shuttle to the beach though.)

Just tried to bid up to $250 when going back and selecting another zone and couldnt get anything there.

How long do i need to wait before i can rebid?

How high are you willing to bid before you consider lowering your star rating, booking retail, or including Wailea-Makena in your bidding? (i'm assuming from your previous post you're currently only bidding Ka'anapali-Lahaina??)

PRICELINE has the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa for your first two nites at $279/nite, which isn't too far from what you've already bid.

I used the forum PRICELINE link bid 205 and included the Wailea Makena region and won the Makena Beach and Golf resort from 6/25-6/27. While it wasnt my ideal choice and may have been able to bid lower, I still saved $30 over the hotwire rate, and $140 off of the website rate.

Thanks all for your help.
