ACID2020 Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 I got the Hyatt Regency Jersey City booked through Hotwire for $133/night for the weekend prior (6-14 to 6-17) but the price shoots up on Monday which means I am moving and hence this thread... Looking for a 3.5* + hotel 6-17-2013 to 6-20-2013 in NYC or Jersey City/Hoboken, pretty flexible as far as location. Two adults and two kids which kind of forces me to use hotwire or else risk trying to fit 4 in a single bed... The best deal I've found so far (using your link) is what I am guessing could be 70 Park Avenue??. What do you guys think?, it shows 100% approval rating:$251.00 per room, per night4-star Hotel in Empire State BuildingThis Hotel features the following amenities:Free Internet <amenity names only please... not descriptions>Pet friendly Pet friendly - terms applyFitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.
thereuare Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 I'm not sure the above is 70 Park Ave, but i can't get this hotel to appear on my own search for your dates of June 17-20... are you sure you're including 2adults/2children in your search? When doing so the 3.5* in see in the ESB zone is priced at $379/nite.... but i do see a 4 hotel in the Times Square zone for $267/nite if that is of interest (and you're able to see this offer on your own HOTWIRE search):Pet Friendly Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... not certain but an upgrade of the Flatotel has been guessed, and this offer does show a 95% recommendation from previous guests if that offers any comfort.I also see (when searching for Hoboken NJ) a 4* in the Chelsea-MSG zone for $252/nite with:Free Internet Pet Friendly Smoke Free Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Roll-in Shower ... but i'm not sure of this property, but with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating and 100% recommendation from previous guests i'd be fairly comfortable knowing that the quality will be there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes and we'll take it from there. ACID2020 Posted May 10, 2013 Author Report Posted May 10, 2013 Thank you. The ESB one went away but the MSG one you mentioned was there all along. Yes, I was including 2 adults/2 children, a property with the same description/location was about $50 less with 2 adults only.My guess is they are (were..) both Kimpton properties, EST= 70 Park Ave. and MSG= ink48 but of course it's just a guess.... The tripadvisor costumer rating for the MSG one is listed in hotwire as 4.5*. The total price at Ink48's official site (including Taxes) was close enough to the Hotwire Chelsea-MSG one that I opted to open a cancelable reservation with them directly. I am over budget, meaning will still be in the lookout (using your link)and will cancel this one if I find something better. Thanks again for the help!
AaronJB Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 Please keep us updated on what you decide and if you have additional questions. ACID2020 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Thank you Aaron, will keep the board updated. Do you happen to have any recommendations on alternative (cheaper) parking at the Hyatt regency Jersey city?. As I mentioned before I am staying over there the weekend prior to this res. and maybe longer if the price comes down.Already asked over at the NJ forum, just trying my luck here as well. Thanks in advance
thereuare Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I sent you a PM regarding parking in the area.At the moment what is your maximum room rate that would prompt you to lock-in a non-refundable reservation? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
ACID2020 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 Thank you!About max room rate it probably depends on the area. Probably less than $180 in Hoboken/JC and $225 for an equivalent quality but much more centric NYC location. But as I mentioned originally I am flexible...
thereuare Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 I don't currently see anything within your budget for quad occupancy, but that 4* in the Times Square zone considering the location and user reviews seems like a pretty good deal at the moment relative to the other offers, imo. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Keep us updated on your progress. ACID2020 Posted May 12, 2013 Author Report Posted May 12, 2013 I made a reservation using Regular PRICELINE (through your link) for two double beds at 70 Park Avenue with free cancellation for $296+tax. Including taxes it comes up to about 1017 total or about the same (a little less..) as the Times Square property $267+taxes+fee.70 Park Avenue seems to be better located than Ink48 (I am about to cancel that reservation) which also shows up on regular PRICELINE for a little less. Seems like I will take a seat on the 70 PA PRICELINE reservation and wait to see if something better comes up.Again, thanks for all the help!
AaronJB Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Thank you for keeping us updated - let us know if another listing comes up between now and your stay.Enjoy your stay.
ACID2020 Posted May 15, 2013 Author Report Posted May 15, 2013 My initial guess ^^^ ended up being correct... Ended up booking 70 Park Avenue (4* Empire States Building, 100% recommended) for 2 adults and 2 children through hotwire for $221 +taxes + fees. Again dates are 6-17-2013 through 6-20-2013.Description:Free Internet Pet friendly Boutique HotelSmoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s)High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deafAccessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroomHandicapped parking Roll-in showerThanks for everything.
