cruiseshmooz Posted May 9, 2013 Author Report Posted May 9, 2013 Hi! I found a 5 star in Venice, Cannaregio/Venetian Getto area $243 plus $38 taxes and fees for Oct. 3-8. Amenities are: pet friendly, smoke free, business center self serve laundry, restaurant(s).Hi speed internet access, and spa services.Any ideas? One main concern I have is how approachable this hotel is with our luggage!
thereuare Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Dei Dogi, a Boscolo Luxury Hotel would be my best guess for this property. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Romelle Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 I found this on the hotel web site:"The Boscolo Venezia Hotel is in the Sestiere Cannaregio, in the northern part of the Venice, away from the usual mass tourist areas, facing the island of Murano. The steam-boats pass every ten minutes form(sic) the railway station of Santa Lucia and stop after 15 minutes at the stops of the Church of the Madonna dell’Orto and the Boscolo Venezia (lines 42 and 52). The Boscolo Venezia hotel has a free motor boat service."No cars on Venice. There is a huge parking lot near the island, and then I think one either walks or catches some sort of boat. Most people arrive via train. The web site didn't make clear just where they pick people up. Both the motor park and the train station are logical choices. The airport is also possible, as there is boat transport from the airport.I'd suggest contacting the hotel directly after you've committed to either the Dei Dogi or another one. Click this for a good discussion of luggage and transport.Romelle
cruiseshmooz Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 We stayed at the Best Western Olimpia at a senior rate with breakfast. Room was small, but cute. Location good, far from noisy Rialto Bridge! Nearby restaurants were so-so.
