Priceline Hotel: Any Puerto Rico experts?

Plan to visit in November -- first time on the island in 15 years(and I only stayed 2 days then). I thought I wanted to combine a resort stay (from priceline or hotwire) with a stay at a couple of the paradors.

At least for right now, that seems to be the only good opaque deals -- except perhaps in San Juan, where I might stay a night or two to see the historical sights and take in some of the atmosphere (although I could drive to San Juan from the Westin).

I think I can get the Westin Rio Mar for some off-peak days at less than $90 on priceline, which seems like a good deal. Any thoughts? I'd also like to stay in the mountains and/or on the west or south coasts for a few nights. Some of the paradors are highly recommended in the guide books -- and are generally reasonably priced -- but often get terrible reviews on trip advisor. Anyone have first hand recommendations?
