deem Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Hey everyone, I need to get a room for my girlfriend and I for just one night in a couple weeks (May 21) as we are driving through Vegas. I would like to stay in a 5* on either part of the strip, but I would prefer to have a casino in the hotel (so no Vdara or Trump). I cannot find anything below $200 on hotwire or priceline express below $200 after taxes. Is Trump included as a hotel in priceline bidding? If so, I will probably up my budget and use hotwire/priceline express so that I can make sure the hotel has a casino. I would then post the amenities to get help ID'ing the hotel. If I'm going the bidding route, I'd like to keep it under $150. Any suggestions and input are much appreciated!
deem Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 Update: Just saw in another thread that Yellowdog said that Trump is "North vicinity" on priceline bidding, rather than part of "north strip." That is great news, and I would definitely like to go the bidding route for a 5* North Strip hotel. Can anyone provide help with the bids I should use? I would like to keep it under $140 (before taxes and fees), but I can go higher if that number is unreasonable. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates in Vegas can move quicker than just about any other market in the country, but at current rates your budget is not likely enough for a 5* hotel in this zone for this nite... you're likely looking at $165-185 at the moment. We can suggest a strategy for whatever maximum bid you would like, but you probably should revise your $140 maximum bid to a more realistic figure, imo.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. deem Posted May 8, 2013 Author Report Posted May 8, 2013 Hey thereuare, thanks for the info. We are actually now meeting some friends who are staying in Planet Hollywood, so I guess my search is now down in The Strip - South. I checked hotwire, and the only 5 star hotel is likely Vdara (because there was no casino amenity listed) for $244, which isn't worth it to me for only one night. Do you think a reasonable price range for The Strip South is also $165-185 for 5 star. Does the Luxor sometimes come up as a 4* option on Priceline? I was considering going down to a 4*, but I don't want to be too far away from Planet Hollywood, so I will probably just stick to the 5* options. Thanks for the help!
yellowdog Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Luxor is reported as a PRICELINE hotel but it's currently rated 3.5* by PRICELINELet us know what you decide and if you need help with a bidding strategy. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 Do you think a reasonable price range for The Strip South is also $165-185 for 5 star.It may be a little light, but no so far off the mark that it's not worth trying.I was considering going down to a 4*, but I don't want to be too far away from Planet Hollywood, so I will probably just stick to the 5* options.PRICELINE EXPRESS does have 4* hotel in the Strip South zone for $54/nite which while it may not be near the 5* quality you were originally seeking, the step down in star rating may be worth the extra $100/nite savings (and use code READYSET5 for an extra 5% off)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know whatever you decide for this stay or how we can be of further help. deem Posted May 8, 2013 Author Report Posted May 8, 2013 Hey, thanks for the info. The list of 4* options has some decent hotels, but many are much farther from PH than I would prefer to be since we will probably be spending our time near there with our friends. As a result, my best bet is probably to do a Name Your Own Price for a 5* South (cosmo, vdara, or aria). There's a decent chance I'll get Vdara, but that's fine as it's the only one I haven't yet stayed in. Any advice on bidding structure? I've read the FAQ on rebidding, but I don't want to mess it up since I haven't done it before. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Is your maximum bid $165?
