txtrvlr Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Any idea why hotel prices are so high in NYC the week of May 13-18? I've bid a few times on a 4* hotel from $150-$210 with no success. Hoping to stay on the west side of the city below mid-town, or downtown. I expanded my search to the east side since that's where many of the successful bids seem to be, but still no luck. Hotwire prices seem high, too. We've got a reservation at the Wyndham in Chelsea which we will keep if nothing pops (will keep trying), but it's more than we'd hoped to pay at $249/night.I realize the weather is typically nice in May, but I don't know of anything big going on that week. Commencement ceremonies and Fleet week are the following week. No big conventions that I can tell. Any ideas? Or suggestions? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Unfortunately, NYC in the Spring is often expensive, although these date/s in particular seem awfully high - not sure why, although 5/16-18 is noticeably better (although still expensive). Would splitting your stay be a possibility?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
txtrvlr Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 Sure, we might be willing to try splitting. I'll look into it. Thanks.
