Hi! My husband, myself and my 4.5 yr old daughter would like to spend 2 nights in the downtown Chicago area, preferably near the Michigan Mile (and as close to the Disney store as possible, per he 4.5 year old's request :D ) Is it better to come on a Monday and leave on Wednesday (or tues/leave thurs or wed/leave Friday)? We'd like a 4 star or higher and would like to keep the cost below $120 if possible. We need the area to be safe, of course. A pool would be nice but isn't a deal breaker and otherwise, as long as the hotel is nice, clean, good service, convenient, we're okay. How, what and where should we bid? Is May generally a busy time to visit, being the start of summer?

Rates can vary significantly from day-to-day and are really a case-by-case basis (one weekend may be much less expensive than the next weekend, etc).

A few thoughts:

If a pool is of interest, HOTWIRE would generally be a better option and you can look for a listing with a pool amenity. You can also indicate the amount of people in the party and ensure some form of bedding for the party (2 beds, 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway) vs PRICELINE, which only guarantees double occupancy/one bed.

Rates ramp up in May and throughout the Summer due to nicer weather, baseball and other events. Looking through some random date periods in June, I think $120 is going to be difficult or unrealistic for the period - for many of the periods I looked at, I think you're likely looking at more around $150 +/-. The period that is actually much more reasonable is the Fourth of July period - would that period be of any interest?

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Sorry, I forgot to put our dates we'd ideally like to go would be any day through the week of May 26th. Also, we live in Amsterdam and only will be in Illinois for a short period of time so we can't be all that flexible as to shift all the way to July. If $120 isn't realistic, then $150 is a nice second. :)

I assume you mean now thru May 26?

How about next weekend May 11-13? HOTWIRE has a 4* hotels offered in the Mag Mile-River North and Mag Mile-Water Tower zones both of which are below $120 (even when searching for 2adults/1child)... are these dates acceptable?
