Priceline Hotel: 3.5* New York City (Downtown - Financial District) Club Quarters Wall Street

I have tried bidding for the last week for a trip I have planned 6/1 - 6/4 (just me and my wife) I saw a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal the day I started bidding for $150 a night 4* I assumed Club Quarters Financial district. I assumed I would be able to do a little better since it was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal but a couple days later (and a lot of bids later) it is gone and I can not get anything under 150 for 3* or greater in most of the areas in NYC. I ended up changing the date for just 6/1-6/3 and the express deals are a LOT better now. Does anyone know what is going on that week because I might have the possibility of moving the trip but it requires changing airfare and work stuff.

I have 2 options

1.Book 2 days at a cheaper rate by bidding or express deal and search for a single day at a different hotel by bidding, which I am not sure if that will help or hurt doing it for one day.

2.Move trip around a day back or so to maybe bring down cost.

I wanted to be around 100-130 a night 3* or better. Any help or suggestions would be great

Welcome to BetterBidding!

$100-$130 is very low for this time of year and you're probably lucky to be seeing anything in this range, even when SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID. The rate difference you're seeing may just be do to midweek vs. weekend pricing in NYC.

What are you currently seeing for 6/1-6/3 that is in your budget? You could then possibly stay the nite of 6/3 outside of the city but an easy commute in... HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in Hoboken for $150/nite and you may do a little better by bidding on PRICELINE.

If you're looking to reschedule the trip i would do so for mid-July as summer rates will have kicked in by then and you'll likely be closer to your desired budget.

So I decided to move the trip one day earlier so now 5/31-6/3.

The express deal is a little better $140 3.5* in Financial District which I assume is Club Quarters Wall Street. I am more than ok with this property since I will have the subway pass and the station is super close to the hotel and price is one of the biggest factors. So with the 5% off it works out to be $133 a night so I assumed I could get a better deal with bidding. I have rebid all the way up to $129 and still have not won it is the express deal going to be better than what I can bid it for? Also anybody have anything negative to say about the property or vicinity?

Looks like hotwire has the about the same deal for $137 but no % off

Thanks in advance for any advice.

...I assumed I could get a better deal with bidding.

Not always, especially when you have a discount code.

Unless your plans have you spending a fair amount of time in this area i would prefer to stay more centrally located in midtown, but it's a trade-off between price and convenience, so you have to decide what your priorities are for this stay... the price is certainly very good for this time of year.

... and you're only a 5 minute walk from Adrienne's Pizza Bar on Stone St which i often recommend to visitors in this area. :)
