wwang Posted September 13, 2005 Report Posted September 13, 2005 Hello, Everyone,I found this forum serveral days ago when I search for "hotel deals". This is an awesome forum. I followed the suggestions on hotel bid and here's my experience.I plan to stay in San Diego for 3 days at first. A 4* hotel in La Jolla is my first priority. On 9/9 I started my bid from $65, rejected and added another zone with $70...and so on with $5 increment. Very quickly, there were not too many choices left. I added Mission Valley which I knew there're 4* hotels. But that's fine to me. And I bid $90. It's accept. The hotel is Hilton Resort on Mission Valley. The total of three nights stay swith tax is $310. It works! I'm so excited. Soon, I realize that I may need one more night stay in San Diego. There were two ways to do:1. Make a phone call to Hilton and ask them for one more night extension. 2. Re-bid for one night. I pick to re-bid. Because:1. Bid is so fun.2. It's not a bad idea to stay in a beach hotel.Since it's just a one night stay, I thought it should be cheaper than 3 nights. But I was wrong. On 9/12 I started from $75 and picked Cornado, rejectedadded $5 more and another zone, rejected...and so on. When I added to $100 and got rejection again, I started to consider what my bottom line was. At that time, there were only two zones left( I don't like downtown area). I had to increase $10 to $110. I was rejected. In my last try, I gave a $125 which was my bottom line. And it was accepted. The hotel is Hyatt Islandia. Then I found to bid one night, I still need to pay over $20 surcharge. But that's OK since it's still below my budget. My experience:1. Bidding is so fun.2. Don't bid twice. Thanks, wwang
