Priceline Hotel: NYC 6/10-6/12 4* hotel

I just found this site and love it! I have always had success with Priceline until recently when I booked a hotel in Los Angeles that was a dump for over the retail price. I decided I need professional help now! Happy to use your links to keep this site going!

We are taking our two small kids to NYC for two days (one can sleep in our bed, the other on the floor, so we are okay with one bed). We want to stay in a 3.5 or 4 star hotel near the attractions in Manhattan. Our budget is around 160-170 max per night.

Any help you could give me about bidding would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Jessica

Welcome to BetterBidding!

While NYC is fairly compact and dense, there are 'attractions' all over the city, which zone(s), by PRICELINE name, are you willing to accept?

Your budget may be a little tight for these dates, but to move forward and give it a try, did you want to bid for a 4* up to your limit OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

Let us know the above and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for you reply. We want to stay in MTE, but are willing to stay close to the park or the ES building. Price is important, but really don't want to stay in a dump or too far from the action. We won't have a car. Everything I found on Hotwire was over 200, so that makes me nervous. Thanks again!!

... but really don't want to stay... too far from the action.

Not sure if you've been to NYC before but at the 4* level MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, and ESB are all generally considered centrally located and easy enough to get around from one place to another. NOTE that at the 3.5* and under levels there are some hotels in the MTE zone that can be up to a 15 minute walk to the subway (which isn't too bad weather-wise this time of year but a zone you may not want to include in 3.5* bidding if you're kids are very young and may not be up for walking by the end of the day) AND at 3.5* and below the CPS has the Hudson Hotel which has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards) and you may want to avoid this zone at the 3.5* level since you're trying to squeeze quad occupancy into the room).

With the above noted and as you're finding, your budget is a bit tight based upon current rates for these dates, and i think you will need to be a bit more flexible in zones, star rating or budget to be successful at the moment. I'd suggest starting with all the zones above and then if rejected you can either: 1) wait it out and try again, 2) raise your budget, 3) lower your star rating, or 4) consider other nearby zones.

Let us know if you want to start with the above zones at the 4* level (or if starting at the 3.5* level if you want to include MTE and/or CPS in the bidding or not) and we'll advise accordingly.
