nirak Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 Hi!Will be in Chicago June 12-15, and would ideally like to stay in 4-star, North Michigan-River North area. Not sure if this matters but we need one room, double occupancy. Single queen/king bed would be preferred.Anyone have an idea of how much I should bid?Looks like Crowne Plaza is on the hotel list for this area -- as a point of reference, rates here average about $215/night during this time via Expedia.Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)
AaronJB Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
nirak Posted April 30, 2013 Author Report Posted April 30, 2013 Thanks AaronJB.Would love to stay under $150/nt avg, closer to $100 if possible -- but from what I can tell it doesn't seem realistic that week.We know that to book via Expedia, we'd be paying a min. $200 to stay near Mag Mile. We're willing to go down to 3* if need be.. location and budget are our biggest priorities.Preferred location is North Michigan Ave-River North. Second choice would be Millenium Park-The Loop-Grant Park. What would be our best approach? Thanks in advance :)
thereuare Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 We will of course start lower, but i'd guess you're likely looking at $140-$160/nite for a 4* hotel... are you willing to bid up to $160 before lowering your star rating to 3.5*? (if not what maximum bid would you like to use as your limit)? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nirak Posted May 1, 2013 Author Report Posted May 1, 2013 Hi thereuare, we're over a month out from our trip, so we'd like to try our luck with $140 max bid as our limit in consideration of your estimated range for a 4*.. price and location are more important considerations right now. What is the best approach? Thanks in advance for your help!
thereuare Posted May 1, 2013 Report Posted May 1, 2013 When bidding 4* in Chicago you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* NMA-River North...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. nirak Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Thank you! This is very helpful - will try this technique using your links and let you know when we're successful.Just out of curiosity, how much do you think a successful bid for a 3.5* and 3* would range for during that time (Jun 12-15)?
thereuare Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 At current rates i'd guess a 3* or 3.5* will still likely be in the $140-$160 area. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
