[email protected] Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 I am planning on staying 4 nights in midtown starting with Oct. 20. I ONLY WANT TO GET 2 NIGHTS CHEAP ON PRICELINE. The other two nights will be at a higher end place (wife dictated). I have never successfully secured a hotel on priceline. My first attempt was unsuccessful. I started at $180 for 10/20 & 10/21 for 4* for MTW, MTE and UM/CP. Next I added Upper East to the mix at $225, rejected, then $250 by adding Upper west rejected again. Am I likely to do much better if I attempt a similar strategy for 10/22 (sat) & 10/23 (sun). These seem like pretty high levels for bidding. Is this a bad time for NYC?
thereuare Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Tough dates for NYC!All you can do is try for the other two nites, but this is how i would bid, assuming your upper limit is currently $250.Select 4* MTW...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected clsoe browser adn re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected clsoe browser adn re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200, if rejected clsoe browser adn re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected clsoe browser adn re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $230, if rejected clsoe browser adn re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $240, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $250.The above will take a bit longer to bid than your previous attempt, but it will also save you some money if successful since you're not making $25 jumps in bids.If the above fails there is a 4* in the MTE zone on Hotwire for ~$275/nite, which matches the Inter-Continental as well as the Grand Hyatt, and is likely one of those two properties. If the above are your "cheap Priceline nites" i can only imagine what you'll be spending for your non-cheap nites! :) Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
