Priceline Hotel: 4* New York City (Midtown East) W New York Hotel

Price was more of an issue than location although I started out with Hells Kitchen and used the two rebid zones to try and secure a 4* there but to no avail. So I started adding other zones as follows: MSG, ESB, and then MTE. Started at $140 and got the score at $165. TripAdvisor reviews are a bit mixed but I'm hoping the W reputation will come through. Biggest complaint is small room but that's not a big issue for this trip. Can't be much smaller than the room we had at the Soho Grand a few years ago!

And yes, of course I used the PRICELINE links from Better Bidding! Thanks for maintaining this valuable resource for travelers!

Congratulations on your success!

Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding :)

We hope you're satisfied with the outcome and will like the hotel.

I always take the TA reviews with a grain of salt. And keep in mind with TA reviews that many of those people paid full price, which is often significantly more, and may have different expectations at those price points

Enjoy your stay.

Good point. Of course you are correct. I'm sure whatever the size the room is, it will be fine as we're only in town for 2 nights and just need a nice bed to sleep on. Thanks!

Just a quick follow-up review of this property. Online reviews complaining about room size did not come to pass as we were upgraded upon arrival to a larger room with a queen which surprised me since this was a priceline booking. Room was on the 17th floor with a decent if not scenic view. Very roomy for the two of us with really nice design accents and a fantastic bathroom. Two robes were included in the closet (I hate it when there is only one). And the service was fantastic. W Insider, David Nichols, is a credit to the hospitality industry and the rest of the staff we encountered were great as well. They even have a free car service which you can reserve in advance. But the hotel is only a short block and a half from the 6 subway and a further block to the E and M lines.

My only complaints would be that there was no full-length mirror in our room and the concierge incorrectly stated that there is no baggage storage at Penn Station (we later confirmed that there was with an Amtrak employee at Penn Station).
