Darkswb Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Hi guys,I'm new to this kind of website (PL or HW). I am planning to go to Hawaii from may 3rd to may 19th (3 islands Kauai/Maui and Big island). I have been throught lot of post and i had two questions. 1- If i plan to book and 5 nights stay on Kauai in the surrounding area of Poipu or Lihue, is it possible to pay less than 100$ for a 3* clean hotels or higher with free parking ? 2- I see lots of people either book throught HW or PL. Is one of them better then the other ? So for my 6 first night on Kauai should i try to bid on PL or directly go to HW and book the ''first'' hotel i see since i'm mostly looking for a cheap but clean place to stay. Thanks for the tips.Seb
thereuare Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!1- If i plan to book and 5 nights stay on Kauai in the surrounding area of Poipu or Lihue, is it possible to pay less than 100$ for a 3* clean hotels or higher with free parking?Tough to answer this on a few levels:rates are date specific so we need to know your dates of travel on Kauaisome people find 1* hotels acceptable while others can find flaws with some of the best 4* hotels... you'll have to choose a star rating that you're comfortable with, using the hotel lists on the board as a guideParking fees, if any, are an unknown with PRICELINE, with HOTWIRE you can choose a hotel that shows the 'Free Parking' amenity2- I see lots of people either book throught HW or PL. So for my 6 first night on Kauai should i try to bid on PL or directly go to HW and book the ''first'' hotel i see since i'm mostly looking for a cheap but clean place to stay.Based upon your needs/goals, i would start by doing a search on HOTWIRE... does anything show up within your desired zone(s) and budget? Darkswb Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 Thanks, i've take a look on HW like you said and i only found 1 hotel during my date (3 may to 9 may). This hotel is a 3* in my range of price (it is 85$) with a very bad rating 50% recommendation. It is a 3-star Hotel in Lihue - Kapaa with :Free ParkingFree InternetNear BeachFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Laundry Facilities (self-service)Golf NearbyTennis NearbyAccessible for the deafI tried to look on the Hotwire hotel list but no hotel seem to fit this profile. Do you have a clue what hotel it could be ? Aston islander maybe ?When i tried to look on Priceline it says median price for a 3* is 199$ or a 3½* 165$. So i guess its impossible i bid on an hotel for 100$ on Price line and i get it ? So i will be better with Hotwire ?
thereuare Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 My guess for the 3* HOTWIRE property would be the Aston Aloha Beach. The median price shown by PRICELINE is often incorrect and shouldn't be used to formulate a bidding strategy... if you want to get a feel for rates use the Hotels.com at BiddingHelper.com OR our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
