Andre M. Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 How much should I expect for a 4* hotel in Times Square from 02/13/14 to 02/17/14?I made a $ 160 bid and didn't win. Am I too early, or are the prices right for the date?I've found the Crowne Plaza Times Square for $ 166 in LMT Club. Should I take it? Is that a good price? Thanks
AaronJB Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 This is quite a ways in advance, so I wouldn't be aggressive with bidding at this point. Additionally, this is is a slow period of the year, although the one issue is that I believe Fashion Week generally happens around this time (not sure if it's the same next year.)Is TS the only acceptable zone?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Andre M. Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 As it is my first time in NYC, I think it would be nice to stay in TS... It is also my honeymoon! How much do you think is acceptable for that period? I think I might wait a little more to bid again then...
thereuare Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 I would consider other areas outside of Times Square as it's really not necessary to stay directly in this zone, and the 'real' NYC experience is outside of here, imo. Times Square is great to visit, especially at nite with all the lights, but during the day there is likely an Applebees, Red Lobster, and Toy's R Us in your own home town. ;) However, it's your stay and you know your needs/wants best so you have to be happy with the zone(s) you decide up on.Assuming the rate at the Crowne Plaza is refundable i'd book that as a back-up... winter in NYC is low season but this is Valentine's Weekend which will likely cause rates to spike and make deep discounts harder to come by.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Andre M. Posted April 19, 2013 Author Report Posted April 19, 2013 Thanks very much for the advice!Which other areas do you think should I consider?
thereuare Posted April 19, 2013 Report Posted April 19, 2013 At the 4* level i would consider MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, MSG, ESB, and Chelsea... but you should look at these zones to confirm that each will work for your plans. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
