funmomo Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Dates: 4/16-4/18. I had booked Hyatt Place but decided to try to save a few dollars. Disappointed, I should've clicked the 3* Busch Gardens but I didn't think LaQuinta would be an option for 3*. funmomo Posted April 18, 2013 Author Report Posted April 18, 2013 I'm not sure if this is appropriate but I wanted to update that I tried to be optimistic but it just did not turn out well. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation for the next few months and they were aware of many of the issues that I complained about when I decided to check out early and just go somewhere else. They offered me four different rooms but two had broken locks and you couldn't even open the doors. The first was stained and dirty. The fourth had ripped furniture, dirty grout, a fuzzy tv reception, a thoroughly ripped shower curtain, sheets that didn't fit, and the carpet was so filthy that it made my kids feet/socks dirty. I have a newly crawling baby so this was just unacceptable and I was fully ready to just cut my losses and pay for a better place elsewhere. They were very accommodating and the General Manager admitted that he knew the carpet was an issue and to give them a chance in a few months once everything is updated including the carpeting. They offered to contact hotwire and refund my entire amount and did exactly that. So, while it's not a place I would pick, I must say that the service was outstanding because I had no hopes of receiving a refund but they made it happen. Unfortunately, this was my first hotwire hotel purchase since I know I can be a bit of a hotel snob, that's probably not a good combination if you want a really low rate.
thereuare Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 I'm not sure if this is appropriate...Sure it's appropriate as it's important for user to know just what happens when things go right, but also what happens when things go wrong, and how it is handled by the companies involved.I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your (limited) stay but happy that La Quinta and HOTWIRE agreed to refund your purchase and handled the situation well.I'm not sure what5 was offered in this zone for your dates, but you may want to stick with the higher rated hotels in the future... while this doesn't guarantee that you'll love the hotel, it does minimize the likelihood of many of the issues that you experienced (although i'll again commend La Quinta for their handling of the situation) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
