cilius Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 I am trying to finde a nice hotel in New York (first time visit also first time using priceline) an i have no idea which bidding strategie will be good. I have a fully refundable hotel at the moment (165$ incl. Taxes) "The Hotel 91". So i am looking for a better Hotel and or better prices. Thank you for your help! Regards, Markus
thereuare Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates I don't think you're going to be able to do too much better than the price you have for this hotel, but do note that the location of this hotel is not really centrally located. If you want to try bidding on PRICELINE what is your minimum star rating? Which zones (by PRICELINE name) are acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cilius Posted April 15, 2013 Author Report Posted April 15, 2013 What would i need to invest for a better Hotel which is more central? I would pay more if the Hotel will be better though. Since it is my first visit everything which is near a subway station with less than 30 minutes to travel would be okay i think (that would mean everything on Manhattan). Maybe you can recommend an area? Thank again for your help. I will use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for bidding.
thereuare Posted April 15, 2013 Report Posted April 15, 2013 What looks to be the Holiday Inn at 51 Nassau St is offered on HOTWIRE for $169/nite (before taxes/fees) and that at least gives you a name brand hotel, but only marginally better in terms of location... it's not any more central, but it does give you a little better access to multiple subway lines and stations. However, even this comes to $200+ after taxes and fees so i'm not sure if worth the added expense. For something more centrally located and 'nice' you're likely looking at $225-$250 all-in based upon current prices. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. cilius Posted April 16, 2013 Author Report Posted April 16, 2013 Splitting is no problem even if it means that we have to change the location. How would we have to do this?
thereuare Posted April 16, 2013 Report Posted April 16, 2013 You SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID by making two different purchases... ideally you want to get as many nites as you can with the first purchase so that there are fewer remaining nites needed to complete your stay on the second purchase. However, as noted above you're looking at somewhat significantly more money to improve your star rating and/or location... how much higher then your back-up hotel are you willing to go?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
