I used the HOTWIRE link on this site.

I was a bit concerned, because it said "near beach" and the map shows it's blocks to the beach. But it is on the main shopping strip from what I'm reading, that leads to the beach. Will review after I get back. On our way to Legoland and booked one night at the new hotel. Wanted to break up the drive down since it's 5 or so hours to San Diego in the car.
