LisaM87 Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Me and my boyfriend are looking for a hotel in New york from june 7th to june 11th, looking for a hotell form 3*-4* in the areas: time square, empire state, midtown east and west. I dont know how much I should start the bid with consider the date and the different areas. I dont want to spend more than 700 dollar for all 4 days included taxes.Sorry if my english is a bit off, but im from Norway and my writing proabably got a bit rusty with the years :)
AaronJB Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding.$700 including taxes is about a $140ish ($140-142) max bid. Given the rates that I'm seeing right now I think that unfortunately may come up somewhat short of what's needed for a 4*, but you can try starting bidding at $115 and moving higher by $5's. Please let us know if you have any questions.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
LisaM87 Posted April 6, 2013 Author Report Posted April 6, 2013 Would like to add central park south to the areas too.We can go a little over 700 dollars with tax. What do you think we need to spend? if i say 750 dollar with taxes for a 4* hotel, will that be good? What about a 3* hotel, is 700 dollar going to do the trick for all four nights?Thank you for helping :)
LisaM87 Posted April 22, 2013 Author Report Posted April 22, 2013 Hello, I found a 4*hotel on hotwire in Mid town Central for 186$ rate, with these amenitiesFree Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access.and there is also a 4* 185$ in Mid Town East with these amenitiesFitness Center Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access and recommended n 85% of Hotwire customer reviews.

thereuare Posted April 22, 2013 Report Posted April 22, 2013 Best guess for the 4* MTC property would be the Shoreham Hotel. For the MTE property my guess would be the Doubletree Metropolitan. The amenities of the 3.5* property are very common for NYC, but my guess here would be the Club Quarters Rockefeller Center.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 My guess would be a new amenity set for the Millennium Broadway, Crowne Plaza or Hilton TS. I'd lean towards the Millennium, but be willing to accept any of the three.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

LisaM87 Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 Thank you so much.Well ill think its time for me to try som bidding. The sones and the starrating is the same as listed above, the only thing im changing is that i dont think i will bid for a 3.5* in CPS, do to the fact that i can end up in the hudson with a super tiny room. Max bid will be around 200$ inculded taxes. So if you can help me with some bidding strat i will be very greatfull. Thanks in advance :)
thereuare Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 What star rating do you want to try for first? Do you want to try for a 4* up to your limit, if rejected try for a 3.5*, and so-on... or is the goal the least expensive 3* or better for this trip? Please also confirm which zones, by PRICELINE name, you're willing to accept (as i don't see them above, i only see HOTWIRE zones requested)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
LisaM87 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Report Posted April 25, 2013 The goal is to get the least expensive 3* or better, if that does not work I want to try for a 4* up to my limit, if that doesnt go through then 3.5* and then a 3*. The sones are central park south, midtown west, time square, midtown east and empire state. In that order.
thereuare Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 The goal is to get the least expensive 3* or better, if that does not work I want to try for a 4* up to my limit, if that doesnt go through then 3.5* and then a 3*.Is your limit for all three star ratings $200 all-in (~$167 bid price)? If so, this isn't a sound strategy since the star rating you choose is the minimum, not absolute, star rating you will accept. So if you bid for a 3* up to $167/nite and are rejected, there is no point in immediately bidding for a 3.5* or 4* up to $167 since those star ratings were already tried on your 3* bid.Does that make sense the way i explained it?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. LisaM87 Posted April 25, 2013 Author Report Posted April 25, 2013 Yes it does.I just want to get a good deal on a 3* or higher in my price range.
thereuare Posted April 26, 2013 Report Posted April 26, 2013 Since you're bidding for a 3* or higher hotel we'll not include CPS since you want to avoid the Hudson, which leaves bidding in the following zones: MTW, TS, MTE, ESBAssuming this is correct i would bid as follows:Select 3* MTW...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* TS...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* ESB...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTW and TS...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and ESB...Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and TS...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTW and ESB...Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* ESB and TS...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and MTW...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTW and TS and MTE...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTW and TS and ESB...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and ESB and MTW...Bid $143, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and ESB and TS...Bid $143, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3* MTE and ESB and MTW and TS...Bid $145While i think the above will likely be too low, with time on your side i would try this first to see if you win anything at a price lower then is likely/expcted. If rejected just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
