ile Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 Hello,I was hoping to get some help to bid for a 4 star hotel room for the dates listed above. We are hoping to stay under $200/night.Areas that are of interest:TS MTW ESB Chelsea MSG Are the hotels in CPS situated close to the subway? I would consider adding this area if it is easily accessbible to other areas.Thank you in advance!
yellowdog Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Please keep all posts in the same thread since posts are for the same stay. Would you like to try PRICELINE first to get the lowest rate or do you want to go with HOTWIRE?If you want to go with HOTWIRE so please change the drop down menu on the top right of HOTWIRE page to United States and the currency dropdown to US Dollars. Then continue to search HOTWIRE and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase.Using the method above what is the room rate per nite in US Dollars? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
ile Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 Is it possible to do both? I wanted to check hotwire to see what hotels are available and if the hotel is one that is not suitable then try bidding on priceline.Hotwire3 Star Midtown Central $194Amenities:Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Business CenterSee all amenitiesRecommended:In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews.3.5 Star Midtown Central $215 Amenities:Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet AccessSee all amenitiesRecommended:In 95% of Hotwire customer reviews.4 Star Midtown Central $216Amenities:Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s)4 Star Empire State Building $218This hotel charges a resort fee. AaronJB Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 You have to be flexible with what you get in terms of both services - if you do not like a hotel on HOTWIRE, with PRICELINE you have to be willing to accept ANY hotel at the star rating chosen in the zone/s chosen. If a hotel showing on HOTWIRE isn't what you are looking for, you could get it (or another you may not like) on PRICELINE.For all of the HOTWIRE listings:If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the red SHOW ME button next to this offer (the one with the price in it), then on the ensuing page click the 'See all' link under the amenities, do you see more than what you've posted above?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
ile Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 I think if the hotwire hotels are ones we don't like then we would be willing to take the risk on priceline for a better price.Sorry about that - there are some that have additional amenities:Hotwire3 Star Midtown Central $194Amenities:Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in showerRecommended:In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews.3.5 Star Midtown Central $215 Amenities:Free Internet, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet AccessRecommended:In 95% of Hotwire customer reviews.4 Star Midtown Central $216Amenities:Free Internet, Pet friendly, Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Centre, High-Speed Internet Access4 Star Empire State Building $218This hotel charges a resort fee. AaronJB Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 4* ESB - are you seeing amenities with this listing?3.5* MTC - not yet ID'd/reported to the board, but my guess would be a possible match for Club Quarters Rockefeller.4* MTC - possible new amenity set for the Shoreham.4* Chelsea - possible new amenity set for the New Yorker.3* MTC - are you still seeing the above listing? I'm seeing a different amenity set in this spot when searching.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

ile Posted April 5, 2013 Author Report Posted April 5, 2013 Hotwire is a bit confusing since listings keep changing. Would it be okay to just get some help on a bidding strategy for Priceline please?Thank you!
ile Posted April 6, 2013 Author Report Posted April 6, 2013 Hi,I am trying to figure out how to bid on priceline for a 4* hotel. I have read the thread on rebidding but just want to confirm if I am understanding correctly.I am interested in the following areas (in the order of interest), hopefully for under $200:TSMTWChelseaESBMSGCPSFrom what I gathered I think the 4* rebidding zones are: Coney island, long island, Morningside Heights - Harlem, and Queensborough Bridge. So when I am bidding, do I add all the areas I am interested in then start adding the rebid zones if my bids are rejected?
