Jason_B Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Hi,I'm looking to get a room for 2 people in Manhattan for the dates listed above. We would like the property to be at least 3.5 stars and stay under $150/night if at all possible. Would it be reasonable to expect to stay under this price? Thanks and Regards,Jason
AaronJB Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 Which zone/s would be of interest?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jason_B Posted April 4, 2013 Author Report Posted April 4, 2013 As I've never been to NYC before, I'm not really sure. I guess pretty much anywhere in Manhattan with easy access to the subway and avoid zones that could have us end up in a run down area/property. We would prefer a property with at least 4 stars, but realize it may not be possible for our desired max cost of $150/night. Having said that, I guess CPS, ESB, HK, MSG, MTE, MTW, TS, UES, and UWS might work well. Again I'm open to other zones as well if it fits our criteria mentioned above.
AaronJB Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I'd avoid UES/UWS if at all possible. At the 3.5* level, there are a couple of concerns - 3.5* MTE does have a couple of properties that are far E in MTE /rather out-of-the-way and 3.5* CPS has the Hudson as a possibility, which has extremely small (130 sq ft or so) rooms. $150 is worth trying for a 4*, but unfortunately, I think a 4* in Midtown will probably wind up taking $165-180. Would you be interested in pushing your budget a tad higher for a 4*, or would you rather go for a 3.5*?Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Jason_B Posted April 6, 2013 Author Report Posted April 6, 2013 Thanks for your input. Yes, I think we'll have to increase our budget. What do you suggest I start the bid at and how should I order the zones for the best results?
Jason_B Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 Just put in some bids today. We got the Doubletree for $190. Started the bid at $115. Thanks again for your input. We used your PRICELINE link.
